BetMGM Forms Multi-Year Partnership With the Baltimore Ravens
Ahead of the upcoming 2021 NFL regular season, the Baltimore Ravens will have their first sponsorship deal in place with a sports betting company. Through a recent BetMGM company release, the two parties announced the new multi-year partnership.
The timing of this agreement could not be better with Maryland looking to launch legal sports betting across the state around the same time the new football season gets underway in early September. BetMGM’s mobile sportsbook app is also a natural tie-in with a planned retail sportsbook at MGM National Harbor casino hotel in Oxon, Maryland just outside of Washington DC.
Baltimore’s chief sales officer is Kevin Rochlitz. His comments on adding an official team sports betting partner included:
“When we began the process of carefully identifying sports betting and digital gaming partners, one of our top priorities was finding unique ways for Ravens fans to further engage with the team…We are excited to partner with BetMGM and look forward to the specialized entertainment experience the company will provide for our fans.”
This was viewed as a major win-win by BetMGM as well. Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost expressed his excitement by calling Baltimore “an incredible organization.” He added the following comments through the company release:
“The Ravens are an incredible organization with a rich history, and we’re proud to have BetMGM as the team’s first official partner in the gaming space. We look forward to offering Ravens fans new ways to engage with their favorite football team on our market-leading platforms.”
One more interested party weighed in on this sponsorship deal with Jorge Perez adding his thoughts as the president and chief operating officer at MGM National Harbor. He made the following comments:
“BetMGM’s partnership with the Baltimore Ravens comes at a pivotal time for MGM National Harbor, as we usher in the era of legalized sports betting in Maryland. We are confident that we will provide Ravens fans throughout the DMV with new and innovative ways to experience football season before, during and after games at our entertainment resort.”
Part of this agreement gives BetMGM full use of the team logo and other trademarks in any related advertising campaigns. This includes the book’s mobile sports betting app. Both parties will also collaborate to create co-branded promotions geared towards Ravens fans.
BetMGM will have branded signage at M&T Bank Stadium as well as a marketing presence in team-related digital media and integrated social media content. Another perk tied to this deal is a BetMGM private hospitality suite at the Ravens’ home stadium in downtown Baltimore.
Legal sports betting was approved in Maryland through a voter referendum in last November’s general election. This paved the way for both retail sports betting at land-based sportsbooks and online betting through mobile sportsbook apps.
State gaming officials are still working through the regulatory process ahead of any planned launch. As mentioned, the goal is to be up and running by early September to coincide with the start of the new college football and NFL season.
BetMGM was founded in 2018 as a result of a partnership between MGM Resorts International and Entain Plc. Through the use of Entain’s online betting technology, BetMGM offers sports betting along with online casino gaming in select markets in the US.
Based in New Jersey, MGM Resorts’ interactive division also owns and operates Borgata Casino, Party Casino and Party Poker as companion online gaming brands.
