NFL Confidence Pool Picks Week 16
The Pittsburgh Steelers were undefeated three weeks ago and have now lost three straight games. Some believed the Steelers were the real deal, while others thought they just had a lucky schedule. Things have changed a bit. The playoff picture is about to shape up, along with the NFL Draft order. In Week 16, every game matters at some degree, and we’ve got all the picks covered here.
Every week I give you my favorite to least favorite games according to my confidence in the pick. Remember, all picks will be picked without using the spread.
Week 16 Confidence List (Most Confidence to Least Confidence)
Vikings vs Saints: The Vikings have struggled to keep points on the board. I like the Vikings offense and the level of skill those position players have, but the offense line has been destroyed recently. The Saints defense should put a lot of pressure on Kirk Cousins and stop the run for most of the game against Dalvin Cook. Take the Saints.
Buccaneers vs Lions: After watching the second half between the Buccaneers and Falcons, we now know what we could have with the Buccaneers. The Lions defense has been brutal all season long. This is the Buccaneers opportunity to put up a load of points, and they won’t miss this chance. Take the Buccaneers.
49ers vs Cardinals: No matter who the 49ers start at quarterback, the Cardinals defense will be prepared. They’ve dominated lower tier quarterbacks and have really elevated their play in those spots. Meanwhile, the 49ers defense has been inconsistent and should have trouble stopping the Cardinals for the entire game. Take the Cardinals.
Dolphins vs Raiders: The Raiders defense is abysmal, and the Dolphins actually have some quality players on offense that can make plays for Tua Tagovailoa. I trust this Dolphins defense to shut down the Raiders offense and create turnovers. Take the Dolphins.
Falcons vs Chiefs: The Chiefs have not been a covering machine this year, but they have been winning like a machine. This offense always just finds a way with whatever the defense gives them. Don’t stop riding the Chiefs train. The Falcons find ways to lose, while the Chiefs find ways to win. Take the Chiefs.
Browns vs Jets: Don’t be fooled by last week. The Jets aren’t good. They had momentum to start the game and pulled out the win. But this time, the Browns will be ready, prepared and likely win by double digits behind one of the best offenses in football. Take the Browns.
Colts vs Steelers: The Steelers might be frauds. They might not be. This is a huge test for the Steelers, whose offense has struggled a bit. The Colts defense is premier, as is the Steelers. However, there’s just one offense that is more consistent than the other. That’s the Colts. Take the Colts.
Bears vs Jaguars: The Bears are starting Mitch Trubisky and David Montgomery. Now the offense looks so much more explosive and the team is looking at the playoffs once again. The Jaguars are looking to get that first overall pick next year’s draft. You know where I’m going with this. Take the Bears.
Giants vs Ravens: The Ravens dropped the Jaguars easily and looked like the Ravens of old while doing it. They might not score a ton of points, but the defense will get plenty of stops against an offense as poor as the Giants. Take the Ravens.
Bengals vs Texans: The Texans have practically nobody to throw to on offense. However, Deshaun Watson has found a way to get this team four wins. If he can get them five wins, it would be amazing with how this defense has played. The Bengals got a bit lucky against the Steelers. Don’t count on more luck in this one. Take the Texans -8.
Broncos vs Chargers: The Chargers actually won a close game last week against the Raiders. However, they could’ve easily lost that game with poor management, once again. Either way, the Chargers have an offense that can score and a defense that has struggled. The Broncos are the exact opposite, but I do think that the defense can get more stops, give the Broncos better field position and Denver can put some points on the board. Take the Broncos.
Panthers vs Washington: Washington is literally fighting for a playoff spot two games below .500. It looks like Dwayne Haskins will be quarterbacking this team on Sunday, but make sure to check on this before making a bet on game day as he was caught in public without a mask. The Panthers defense has struggled, while the offense has started to falter. Washington will keep this game close and escape late. Take the Football Team.
Eagles vs Cowboys: I’ve been impressed with Jalen Hurts in his first two starts. It’s not his fault the Eagles allowed a large amount of points last week. Hurts has so much playmaking ability, the Eagles will find ways to score. On defense, the Eagles pass rush should get through to Andy Dalton and create havoc. Take the Eagles.
Rams vs Seahawks: The Seahawks offense struggled for most of the second half last week against Washington. The Rams struggled all game against the Jets. Both teams are looking for better performances. However, when you look at matchups, the Rams match up better on defense and should find their offense again against a bad Seahawks defense in the passing game. Take the Rams.
Titans vs Packers: I’d rather you just take the over. Both teams have struggled on defense and have dominated offensively. I’d say that the Packers have slightly the better offense and should outscore the Titans late in the game. The Titans are always finishing games up or down one score. Take the Packers.
Bills vs Patriots: The Bills offense continues to roll no matter what defense they’re playing against. The Patriots have been a bit inconsistent on defense and are now officially out of the playoffs. The Patriots will take a backseat to their big brother in the Bills. Buffalo has been waiting for this moment. Take the Bills.
