Free NBA Picks Wednesday 2/5/2020 and Opening Line Report
In the NBA on Wednesday, there are nine intriguing matchups. But there are
none more intriguing than the Nuggets taking on the Jazz. With the 13th
pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Donovan Mitchell was selected by the Nuggets
only to be traded by the Nuggets to the Jazz three minutes later. Nuggets
fans will always wonder what this team could've been adding Mitchell to the
team. Also, the Raptors will look for their 12th straight win at home
against the Pacers, while D'Angelo Russell will potentially make his return
to Brooklyn with the Warriors, if he's not traded and healthy. Here are the
early leans for Wednesday's action.
Suns vs. Pistons 2/5/20
(-1.5, 224)
The Suns have dropped four of their last five games while losing their last
two road games by large margins. The Pistons lost to Memphis on the road
but will return home after also losing four of their last five games. This
should be a close game. There are plenty of injury statuses to look at
before betting on this game. Derrick Rose is day-to-day with a hip injury
and could miss more time. Take the Suns in a close game. The Pistons aren't
great at home this season.
Key trends:
Suns are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning
% of less than .400.
Early lean: Suns, Over
Pacers vs. Raptors 2/5/20
(-5.5, 217)
The Raptors were supposed to hit rock bottom once Kawhi Leonard chose to
leave Toronto for Los Angeles. Not so fast. The Raptors have won 11
straight games and are now 36-14 on the year. The Pacers have lost
back-to-back games against the Knicks and Mavericks at home and figure to
struggle on the road after some pretty bad losses. The Raptors are blowing
out teams right now by scoring an excessive amount of points. I like the
Raptors chances.
Key trends:
Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 after allowing 100 points or more in
their previous game.
Early lean: Raptors, Over

Magic vs. Celtics 2/5/20
(-5.5, 228)
Orlando has really struggled against good teams this season. The Magic's
lone win in their last five came against the Hornets on the road. They took
two losses to Miami and lost badly to the Clippers and the Celtics. Good
news for the Celtics, they get to face the Magic again after winning the
first game on the road, 109-98. Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart will be
questionable, but the outcome won't be questionable. The Celtics will still
win behind first-time All-Star, Jayson Tatum.
Key trends:
Celtics are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 after allowing 100 points or more in
their previous game.
Early lean: Celtics, Under
Warriors vs. Nets 2/5/20
(-6.5, 228)
The major question here… Will D'Angelo Russell play in this game or not?
He's been dealing with a quad injury and has also been involved in many
trade conversations. But Russell could be coming back to Brooklyn to a
bunch of cheers. Don't pick this game before hearing Russell news. If
D'Angelo is in fact playing, you have to take the Warriors. He'll put on a
show, especially with Kyrie out for the Nets.
Key trends:
Warriors are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win.
Early lean: Warriors, Over
Cavaliers vs. Thunder 2/5/20
(-11, 219)
Both teams were thought to be in rebuilding mode coming into the season.
The Cavs were going to build around Kevin Love, while the Thunder were
going to build around Chris Paul. The Thunder have exceeded expectations
and are now 30-20 on the season. The Cavs? They're 13-38 this season after
losing to low tier teams like the Knicks and Warriors in their last two.
Take the Thunder at home.
Key trends:
Thunder are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below
.400.
Early lean: Thunder, Under
Hawks vs. Timberwolves 2/5/20
(-5.5, 235.5)
Karl Anthony Towns hasn't won a single game since November. He was injured
for December and January and upon his return, the Wolves have now lost
their last 12 games. I couldn't even imagine taking the Wolves, even at
home against a 13-win Atlanta team. Trae Young has been fun, and this game
calls for a Trae Young show.
Key trends:
Hawks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss.
Early lean: Hawks, Over
Grizzlies vs. Mavericks 2/5/20
(-5, 229)
Dillon Brooks came out bashing Andre Iguodala for not playing with the
Grizzlies and demanding a trade. Some would say the comments were out of
line, but some happen to agree with him. Ja Morant chimed in supporting
Brooks' comments, and that started a war between Steph Curry, Iguodala and
the Grizzlies. Either way, Brooks and Morant seem to have the locker room
for the Grizzlies and are now 25-25 on the season. Iguodala doesn't want to
play with a rebuilding team. But the Grizzlies are now one win away from
being over .500 in the West with a rebuilding team. They're not a bad team
and have lots of young talent. Kristaps Porzingis has led the way for the
Mavericks due to Doncic's absence and has played extremely well in his last
two games. The Grizzlies will change that, though. Take Memphis on the
road.
Key trends:
Grizzlies are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up win.
Early lean: Grizzlies, Over
Nuggets vs. Jazz 2/5/20 (-1, 224)
Donovan Mitchell was selected by the Nuggets and traded to the Jazz in the
2017 NBA Draft within three minutes. Nuggets fans have had some really good
teams as of late, so Denver fans aren't going to complain but do Nuggets
fans ever think about the potential the Nuggets would have with Mitchell on
the team? The Jazz have lost four straight and the last three were on the
road. They're now coming home against the Nuggets team without Paul Millsap
and Jamal Murray. I like the Jazz to turn things around now that they're
back home.
Key trends:
Jazz are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 home games.
Early lean: Jazz, Under
Heat vs. Clippers 2/5/20
(-7, 223)
Jimmy Butler just destroyed his former team in the 76ers on Monday night,
winning 137-106. Miami at home is sensational. But this game is on the road
against one of the top teams in the West. The Clippers are 8-2 in their
last 10 games and have won their last two at home. The Heat are without
Justise Winslow and potentially Tyler Herro. Take the Clippers at full
health against the Heat.
Key trends:
Clippers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss.
Early lean: Clippers, Over
