Free NBA Picks Wednesday 2/26/2020 and Opening Line Report
The NBA is starting to shape up. We're finally seeing some angles where we can argue that some teams are pretenders while other teams are legit contenders. There are nine games on Wednesday's slate in the NBA. We've got boring games like the Knicks visiting the Hornets but there's also an exciting match-up between the Celtics and Jazz. Here are the early lean's for Wednesday's NBA action.
Knicks vs. Hornets 2/26/20 (-2, 206)
The battle of the terrible teams in the East. The Knicks have dropped four straight although they hung around against the Rockets on Monday. The Hornets were on a three-game winning streak before their loss to the Nets, 115-86. The Hornets have lost their last two home games by an average of 22.5 points. The Knicks should be able to stick around and even potentially win this match-up. Roll with the Knicks as the Hornets have struggled at home lately.
Key trends: Knicks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.
Early lean: Knicks, Under

76ers vs. Cavaliers 2/26/20 (+7, 220)
You'd be surprised to know that the Cleveland Cavaliers have won three of their last four after knocking off Miami at home. Ben Simmons will be out for a little bit with a back injury. This is a tough spot for the Sixers to be in since they've been terrible on the road lately. I'm rolling with the home team in a shootout. The Cavs are playing with more motivation under JB Bickerstaff and it certainly shows. I like the Cavs as a home underdog.
Key trends: PHI are 6-20-2 ATS in their last 28 road games.
Early lean: 76ers, Over
Nets vs. Wizards 2/26/20 (+2.5, 235)
Don't you feel bad for Bradley Beal. He's had two straight 50+ point performances only to lose both of these games. The Nets kind of full Beal's pain after going up by nearly 20 points against the Magic only to blow the lead late in the fourth quarter and lose. The Nets have been playing solid defense as of late. I don't think Beal scores another 50 point game against the Nets. The Nets should hold the Wizards in check offensively. I like the Nets on the road over the Wizards. Washington can only win this game playing their own defense and they won't.
Key trends: Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
Early lean: Nets, Under
Timberwolves vs. Heat 2/26/20 (-6.5, 228)
Fade Minnesota. I'll say this every time and it'll stand true everytime. Minnesota is allowing teams to score at will without Karl Anthony-Towns and even lost to the Hornets at home, 115-108 early in mid-February. Miami has dominated at home this season and that won't change. I'd take Miami to win this game by 20 points. That's how confident I am. Miami will be very happy to get back home after playing four road games in their last five games.
Key trends: Heat are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 home games.
Early lean: Heat, Over
Magic vs. Hawks 2/26/20 (+2.5, 225.5)
The Magic stole a game from the Nets on the road and have now won three of their last four games. The Hawks have won two of their last three after taking a loss to the 76ers on the road. Every team has taken a loss to the Sixers. The truth is, the Hawks have been extremely good at home against the spread as of late, winning six of their last eight games at home. While Orlando got the win against the Nets, they haven't been great at covering the spread in their last 13 games, covering just three times. Take Trae Young and the Hawks to explode on their home court.
Key trends: Hawks are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 home games.
Early lean: Hawks, Over
Grizzlies vs. Rockets 2/26/20 (-5, 222)
The Grizzlies are back to under .500 after an embarrassing loss to a Clippers team that was out to prove something. Memphis will play their fourth game on the road against the Rockets and have struggled mightily on the road against good teams. The Rockets are coming off a win over the Knicks, 123-112 on the road without Russell Westbrook. With Westbrook back in the lineup for this one, and an 8-2 record straight up in their last ten, the Rockets should get this win easily. The Grizzlies looked burnt out on the road.
Key trends: Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
Early lean: Rockets, Over
Mavericks vs. Spurs 2/26/20 (+3.5, 226)
The Mavericks just destroyed the Timberwolves, 139-123 while the Spurs were just destroyed by the Thunder. The Spurs played five straight road games and won two of those five. San Antonio has to feel good coming back home after that road trip but Dallas has played very well recently. Even in their losses, they've lost by an average of four points in their last two losses. I expect Dallas to be in this game and push away in the second half against the Spurs.
Key trends: Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days.
Early lean: Mavericks, Over
Clippers vs. Suns 2/26/20 (+5.5, 234.5)
The Clippers are back after defeating the Grizzlies, 124-97. All doubts are finished. This team can play and compete against any team when healthy. We already knew that. However, the Clippers will take the win on the road against the Suns who are coming off an almost perfect performance against the Jazz on the road. The Suns have won three of their last four games and two of those wins came on the road. The 20-point win over the Jazz proved that the Suns are no push-over after scoring 131 themselves. The Clippers defense is very good when this team is on the same page. Look for the Clippers to win this game on the road pretty easily. It's no match.
Key trends: Suns are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win.
Early lean: Clippers, Over
Celtics vs. Jazz 2/26/20 (-2, 222)
Which Jazz team will we get? The team that lost by 20 to the Suns or the team that has hot stretches of incredible wins during a long winning streak? One thing is for sure, the Celtics have been consistent thanks to the play of Jayson Tatum. I'll gladly take the Celtics on the road against a Jazz team that allowed 131 points to the Suns at home. Boston will likely do the same as they average over 113 points per game this season. The Celtics have covered 11 of their last 15 games this season.
Key trends: Celtics are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
Early lean: Celtics, Over
