The NBA bubble has been extremely exciting. We’ve seen the Brooklyn Nets defeat the Los Angeles Clippers and the Milwaukee Bucks without their entire normal starting lineup. We’ve also seen the Phoenix Suns show the exact potential that the team has going into next season. However, the Suns are undefeated in the bubble and have a legitimate chance of making it into the playoffs. The bubble is full of surprises. Which surprises will we see on Tuesday’s slate?

Nets vs Magic 8/11/20 (TBD, TBD)

The Nets are currently the only team to defeat the Bucks and Clippers in the Orlando bubble. They’ve played with heart, toughness, and nothing to lose. Now they’ll take on the Magic, who have lost four straight games with offense that has taken a dip recently. The Magic lost an overtime game to the Celtics and scored an average of 100 points in two other games against the 76ers and Raptors. The Nets are on a roll and are shooting lights out. I’m not so sure the Magic can keep up with them this time around.

Key trends: Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Early lean: Nets, Over

Rockets vs Spurs 8/11/20 (TBD, TBD)

The Rockets have been without Russell Westbrook in their last two games, but James Harden is doing what he does best and giving the Rockets a chance to win without their other super star. The Rockets have won two straight against the Lakers and Kings, while the Spurs have won two straight against the Jazz and Pelicans. The Spurs have kept their last five games extremely close and figure to keep this one close with the Rockets, whether they’re with Westbrook or without.

Key trends: Spurs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog.

Early lean: Spurs, Over

Suns vs 76ers 8/11/20 (TBD, TBD)

The Suns are currently undefeated in the bubble. “Bubble Booker” is looking like an MVP in Orlando along with the rest of the team. The Suns can now potentially make the NBA postseason, which is something we’ve never thought could happen in July. Meanwhile, the 76ers are depleted. Simmons is done for the year with a knee injury, and the status of Joel Embiid, who was hurt on Sunday, is uncertain. Josh Richardson will pick up the slack, but I don’t see the 76ers defending the Suns well enough in this one.

Trail Blazers vs Mavericks 8/11/20 (TBD, TBD)

Damian Lillard isn’t playing around. The Blazers are 33-39 on the season, but they’re still playing for pride in the NBA bubble. The team had plenty of injuries all season long, and they’re currently almost at full strength in the bubble. Now they’re playing fantastic basketball, winning three of their last four games. The Mavericks continue to find themselves in overtime games. While they’ve won two of their last three overtime games, the Mavs have made it really hard on themselves game after game. Doncic vs Lillard should be fun. How do you pick this game?

Key trends: Mavericks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

Early lean: Blazers, Over

Celtics vs Grizzlies 8/11/20 (+5, 224.5)

The Grizzlies have not looked good in the bubble. They had a dominating win over the Thunder on 8/7 but haven’t won any other game in Orlando. After a 108-99 loss to the Raptors, the Grizzlies are now the only team that hasn’t reached 100 points in three games this season. The Celtics are known for some solid defense and have plenty of offensive weapons to counter the Grizzlies. The Celtics don’t have much to play for, but even at that point, they’ll still be better than the Grizzlies in this one.

Key trends: Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest.

Early lean: Celtics, Under

Pelicans vs Kings  8/11/20 (TBD, TBD)

The Pelicans have looked flat recently but continue to trade wins for losses. Meanwhile, the Kings have won just one game of their last five with double-digit losses in three of them. De’Aaron Fox is doing what he can, but the rest of the Kings haven’t been very productive. If the Pelicans continue to trade wins for losses, they’ll be on the right path in this one. The Pelicans are officially eliminated from the playoffs, but there’s hope for next season and beyond with a young core that has so much potential.

Key trends: Pelicans are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

Early lean: Pelicans, Over

Bucks vs Wizards 8/11/20 (TBD, TBD)

This is a mismatch game. But the last time the Bucks had such a mismatch game, they lost to the Nets as heavy favorites. The Bucks have lost three of their last four games. Although the Bucks have a playoff spot locked in, losing three of four is embarrassing for the Bucks. The team can’t be happy with their performance. But if you want to talk about embarrassing, the Wizards haven’t won a game in the bubble without Davis Bertans and Bradley Beal. No chance in this one.
