The NBA regular season is coming to a close. That means star players will rest in their final games or maybe just play a half of the game. It’s hard to know exactly what will happen in these games as all eight teams playing on Friday have playoff positions locked up. Here are the NBA leans for August 14. It’s almost time for the playoffs!

Nuggets vs Raptors 8/14/20 (TBD, TBD)

The Nuggets and Raptors both have playoff spots. This will be a playoff-prep if you will. As of now, the regulars, but Gary Harris and Will Barton, are expected to play for the Nuggets, while Serge Ibaka  and OG Anunoby are listed as day-to-day for the Raptors. The Nuggets have lost two straight games, while the Raptors have won four of their last five. It might sound crazy, but the Raptors have more depth on their bench. I’d trust that group more than the Nuggets right now.

Key trends: Raptors are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall.

Early lean: Raptors, Over

Heat vs Pacers vs 8/14/20 (TBD, TBD)

The Heat and Pacers also have playoff spots locked up before this game. It’s likely that TJ Warren and Malcolm Brogdon miss this game, while Kendrick Nunn and Jae Crowder are listed as day-to-day for the game. The Pacers played intense defense against the Rockets in their last game but struggled to score points against the Heat in their first game in the bubble against them. The Heat ended up winning that game, 114-92, on 8/10. Look for the Heat’s offense to be too much for the Pacers in this one.

Key trends: Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.

Early lean: Heat, Overr

Thunder vs Clippers 8/14/20 (TBD, TBD)

The Clippers and Thunder have each won three of their last five games. The Clippers will be without Patrick Beverley, and potentially without Landry Shamet (which isn’t a bad thing) and Montrezl Harrell. Meanwhile, the Thunder will be without Dennis Schroder and potentially Luguentz Dort. Another tune-up game for the playoffs. Who knows how many minutes the stars will get in this one. The Thunder’s offense has been more consistent this season, so I’ll lean on the Thunder.

Key trends: Under is 4-1 in Thunder last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.

Early lean: Thunder, Over

76ers vs Rockets (TBD, TBD)

The stars have been missing games for both sides. The 76ers lost Ben Simmons for good this season, while Joel Embiid and Josh Richardson are both banged up along with a couple of their other role players. Meanwhile, Russ Westbrook is day-to-day, and Eric Gordon has already been ruled out after a brutal shooting performance against the Pacers. The Rockets shot ice-cold in their last game against the Pacers (other than Harden). I’m not sure that chances against the 76ers defense are solid when Embiid is on the floor. I’d side with the 76ers in this one.

Key trends: Rockets are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
