Free NBA Picks Friday 1/24/2020 and Opening Line Report

Friday's NBA slate kicks off a little earlier than usual as the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Charlotte Hornets in Paris, France. The Bucks are on a long winning streak playing against the Hornets, who are on a long losing streak. Does the neutral-court aspect hurt or help the Hornets? Zion Williamson will play his second game in the NBA against the Nuggets at home. The Pelicans are small favorites against a much better Nuggets team. Is Zion-mania really causing the lines to swing? Here are the early lean's for Friday's NBA slate.

Bucks @ Hornets 1/24/2020 (+13.5, 219)

This game will take place in Paris with the Bucks on a seven-game winning streak and the Hornets on a seven-game losing streak. The only question is if the Bucks can win this game against the spread. The Hornets have been blown out in their last two games and have scored an average of 84.5 points per game. The Bucks' last two were double-digit wins.

Key trends: Bucks are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Grizzlies @ Pistons (-1.5, TBD)

After the Grizzlies found fire, Memphis has now lost two in a row and is searching for answers. The Pistons have won three of their last four and are playing better basketball as of late. Andre Drurmmond didn't play Wednesday due to a mouth injury, but if he's good to go, expect the Pistons' defense to give the Grizzlies problems at home.

Key trends: Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Friday games.

Celtics @ Magic (TBD, TBD)

Are the Celtics finally back? After a weird losing streak for Boston, the Celtics have now defeated the Lakers and Grizzlies soundly in their last two games. Orlando's only win in their last four games came against a struggling Hornets team. The Celtics are on a roll. So roll with them.

Early lean: Celtics, Over

Raptors @ Knicks (+7.5, 216)

Don't even think about taking the Knicks at home. Toronto is on a five-game winning streak after beating the 76ers, 107-95. The Knicks showed some effort against the Lakers last time out but ultimately took the loss. The Raptors are averaging a ton of points in their last five games. The Knicks offense can't keep up.

Key trends: Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Early lean: Raptors, Over

Kings @ Bulls (-2, 221)

The Kings have no answers right now. They're on a six-game losing streak and are still on the road to face a Bulls team that continues to trade wins for losses. The Bulls are beating bad teams and losing to good team. The Bulls shouldn't have trouble with the Kings, but just hope that the game remains out of reach.

Key trends: Bulls are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Hawks @ Thunder (TBD, TBD)

If you bet over on the Thunder's win total, you're well on your way to making some nice cash. The Thunder are back on the winning train with three straight wins with the last two on the road. The Hawks are coming off a win over the short-handed Clippers, but the Thunder aren't shorthanded and are playing like a top team in the league this year. Take the Thunder at all costs.

Key trends: Thunder are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Friday games.

Rockets @ Timberwolves (+5, 235)

Houston had their struggles in middle January but finally won over the Nuggets at home, 121-105. To start a winning streak, the Rockets will need to beat a Timberwolves team that has lost seven straight games. The Rockets are smelling this win from a mile away. I am too.

Key trends: Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Friday games.

Nuggets @ Pelicans (-3, 231)

Zion Williamson returned to the Pelicans with a minutes restriction. That's the only thing that fans were disappointed with. Zion scored 22 points in 18 minutes, shooting 4-of-4 from downtown. The Pelicans still lost the game as Zion wasn't allowed to finish it. The Nuggets are 1-1 during their road trip. Zion mania is so high right now that the line will be very much in favor of the Pelicans. Take the Nuggets as there's going to be tons of value there.

Early lean: Nuggets, Over

Clippers @ Heat (TBD, TBD)

The Clippers will be without Paul George and potentially without Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Beverley. Without those three, the Clippers lost to the Hawks. Assuming Kawhi and Patrick are back, things will get easier for the Clippers. The Heat have dominated at home recently, but their last two games were overtime wins. The Clippers should be able to cover the spread and have the potential to win outright.

Key trends: Clippers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Early lean: Clippers, Under

Suns @ Spurs (-4, 229)

The Spurs took the Zion Williamson blow in full stride, coming out victorious over a red-hot Pelicans team. The Spurs have now won three straight games, with the last two coming on the road. That first road game was against the Suns, where the Spurs won 120-118. With both teams getting a good look at each other, you've gotta roll with the better team and better coach in preparation. Take the Spurs and Pop to get another win over the Suns.

Key trends: Spurs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

Early lean: Spurs, Under

Pacers @ Warriors (+4, TBD)

The Pacers are 7-3 in their last 10 games, while the Warriors sit at 1-9 in their last 10. The Pacers lone loss in the last week was against the Utah Jazz and just recently destroyed the Suns on the road. The Warriors do not fare well against clear playoff teams, and this game will be no different.

Key trends: Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite.
