Free College Basketball Picks Wednesday 2/12/2020 and Opening Line Report

Wednesday's college basketball features three incredible Big East matchups along with some Big 12, SEC, ACC and AAC action. Seton Hall looks to stand tall in the Big East standings while Kansas and West Virginia clash in a Big-12 match-up that shouldn't disappoint. Here are the early leans for February 12's college basketball slate.

Creighton vs Seton Hall 2/12/20 (-6, 146)

In the first of many ranked match-ups of the day, Seton Hall will continue their impressive run in the Big East at home against Creighton. Creighton and Seton Hall have won four of their last five games and are both ranked in the Top-25. Seton Hall played back-to-back road games and defeated Villanova last in a thriller. Creighton scored 94 points against St. John's at home but lost to Providence on the road in their last road game. Creighton can shoot a little better than Set Hall but the Pirates are the better defensive team. Look for Seton Hall to get some stops and help propel another win at the Prudential Center.

Key trends: Pirates are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games.

Xavier vs. Butler 2/12/20 (-5.5, 129)

Since Xavier beat Seton Hall, they've gone on a three-game winning streak with two of the games coming on the road. Butler has struggled as of late, losing two of their last three games. Butler's defense struggled last time out against Marquette, allowing 76 points when the average against is 61.2. Butler's last two games have been higher scoring than they're used to. As long as Xavier continues their hot shooting, look for Xavier to get their fourth straight win in the Big East.

Key trends: Bulldogs are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.

Early lean: Xavier, Over

Kansas vs. West Virginia 2/12/20 (-2, 134)

In the Big 12, there's also a ranked match-up between Kansas and West Virginia. However, West Virginia is in danger of falling out after losing to Oklahoma on the road last time out, 69-59. Kansas, on the other hand, is on a roll after winning eight straight games with stellar defense and enough scoring. If WVU wants a chance to win this game, they'll have to limit possessions and get more turnovers. Kansas shoots five percent better from the floor and has played much better on both sides of the ball compared to WVU. Take Kansas to get a road win easily.

Key trends: Jayhawks are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.

Alabama vs. Auburn 2/12/20 (-7.5, 160.5)

Everyone remembers the first game between these two teams. Alabama destroyed Auburn on their home floor. Now Auburn will look to turn things around and crush Alabama at their house. Alabama defeated Georgia in double overtime while Auburn came storming back and defeated LSU in single overtime. Auburn has played in overtime three of their last four games. Alabama just saw overtime in their last one. There will be no blow out. Take Alabama and the points. This will be a close game.

Key trends: Crimson Tide are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.

Early lean: Auburn, Over

Louisville vs. Georgia Tech 2/12/20 (+5.5, 137)

Nothing has scared Louisville this year. Georgia Tech has had some impressive upsets this season. They'll be home looking for another one. Yet, Louisville has won ten straight games and have played very well defensively to get to this point. However, Georgia Tech has won their last three games at home and have played sharp defense throughout their home games. I'd take Georgia Tech as a home underdog. Georgia Tech might not win, but it'll be a close game towards the finish.

Key trends: Yellow Jackets are 17-4 ATS in their last 21 games following a ATS loss.

Early lean: Georgia Tech, Under

Marquette vs. Villanova 2/12/20 (-5.5, 145)

The lowest ticket to this game is set at $82 currently. This will be another huge Big East battle between Marquette and Villanova. Marquette has won four of their last five with the one loss coming in overtime against Butler. Villanova is about to drop out of the Top 25 with another loss as they've lost three straight games in conference play. I said this last week, but there's no way Villanova loses four straight, especially at home. Marquette is playing very well but not at the same level as Seton Hall or even Creighton at this point. Take the Wildcats at home. They need this one more than anything and know it.

Key trends: Wildcats are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

Early lean: Villanova, Over

Houston vs. South Florida 2/12/20 (+5.5, 126.5)

Houston will take on a below .500 South Florida team that is trying to get back to .500 basketball after a three-game winning streak. The Bulls might struggle with this as they lost to Houston earlier in the season on the road, 68-49. South Florida scored 49 points and struggle scoring points at times. Houston averages 11 more points per game than South Florida and should be able to hold South Florida below 50-60 points against after they allowed Wichita State to just 43 points in their last win. Take Houston all the way to the bank.

Key trends: Cougars are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a straight up win.
