Free College Basketball Picks Tuesday 2/4/2020 and Opening Line Report

Tuesday's college basketball action features five interesting conference matchups that really can go either way. Duke will take on a Boston College team that upset North Carolina at home, while Rutgers looks to get a road win against a ranked Maryland team. Auburn is traveling to an improved Arkansas team after defeating Kentucky at home as Kentucky welcomes Mississippi State to their building. Plus, we have a ranked matchup between Penn State and Michigan State. The Spartans took a bad loss to Wisconsin and will look to rebound. Here are the early leans for Tuesday, February 4.

Duke vs. Boston College 2/4/20 (+15.5, 144)

After a two-game losing streak, Duke has turned it on to win three straight games in the ACC. Boston College pulled off an upset on the road at UNC as Cole Anthony made his return. An impressive win for a Boston College team that can get streaky from the field. Here's the problem for Boston College though, Duke is streaky all the time and score 83.4 points per game to Boston College's 64.8 points per game. Take Duke as they explode to a double digit win easily.

Key trends: Blue Devils are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games.

Rutgers vs. Maryland 2/4/20 (-7.5, 131)

Rutgers took a tough loss to Michigan at Madison Square Garden to Michigan. It was technically a Michigan home game, but Rutgers fans showed out. Rutgers has been extremely good at home but have struggled on the road, much like all Big Ten teams. Rutgers has reached a point where if they don't win another road game in conference play, playing in the Tournament will be slim. Maryland has also won their last two home games over Iowa and Purdue and have won four straight. Maryland is playing great basketball but will likely be overvalued in this one. Take Rutgers with their stingy defense. They'll keep this one close.

Auburn vs. Arkansas 2/4/20 (-1.5, 142)

We've been all over Auburn saying how this team is so overrated and then they beat Kentucky, 75-66 at home. Auburn is now 19-2 on the year and have won four straight games. Arkansas has had an incredible turnaround this season accumulating a 16-5 record. The Razorbacks have lost three of their last five games but two of those came on the road and the one loss was just a two point loss. Auburn has struggled on the road recently with a loss to Florida and a double overtime win against Ole Miss so I'd take Arkansas at home.

Key trends: Razorbacks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.

Penn State vs. Michigan State 2/4/20 (-8.5, 143.5)

Penn State will rise in the top-25 while Michigan State will need this one to hold onto a spot. Michigan State trailed early and often on the road against Wisconsin and eventually lost, 64-63. Michigan State has lost two of their last four games while Penn State has won four straight with two already coming on the road. I like Michigan State to respond after the Wisconsin loss at home.

Key trends: Spartans are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss.

Early lean: Michigan State, Over

Mississippi State vs. Kentucky 2/4/20 (-5.5, 139)

The SEC is kind of hard to predict these days. Mississippi State has won four of their last five games and just defeated Tennessee at home, 86-73. Of course, Kentucky lost to Auburn on the road but have struggled blowing teams out. Each game is close and you're left without nails after the game. Take Mississippi State to stay in this game and potentially come away with the upset.

Key trends: Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
