First Movie Studio to Release Coronavirus Movie: Odds and Predictions
In these uncertain times as an oddsmaker, not only am I looking for stuff to post for all bettors, but at the same time I'm looking to give the reader a laugh. I don't care if we take any bets on some odds that I have posted globally, but if I can provide some enjoyable entertainment to relax the nervousness in the world, I'm happy.
If you look at some of the top movies being watched on Netflix right now, you will see movies like "Pandemic," "Outbreak," and "Containment". Coronavirus is everywhere and is on everybody's mind, so when I was watching Outbreak I thought what this next betting proposition.
After 9/11, we saw tons of documentaries about that horrific day, but we also some horrible movie portrayals. In 2006, director Oliver Stone made the movie "World Trade Center," which did not do well in the movie theaters and scored only 67% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's going to be interesting to see how the movie industry introduces the Coronavirus on screen. However, let's face it, this virus is not going away anytime soon.
Movie Studio to Release First Coronavirus Move
First run must hit the Movie Theaters or Streaming
Warner Bros +150
Walt Disney Studios +160
Paramount Pictures +200
Sony Pictures +250
MGM Studios +350
Universal Pictures +500
My quick breakdown on each movie studio!
Warner Bros at +150 seems like the reasonable favorite as they just released the movie Richard Jewell - An American Tragedy (1996 Summer Olympics bombing). It didn't do well in the theaters, but they can quickly replicate another tragedy movie. I believe no value at +150.
Walt Disney quickly took some action when the odds were posted, and I have no clue why. I just don't see The Mouse making a movie about this virus, because they will be behind on upcoming superhero movies and more Star Wars movies. Unless Baby Yoda kicks the Coronavirus butt!!! No value for me at +160 with Disney.
Paramount Pictures made the World Trade Center movie and another controversial movie in 2016, "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi". Here is my free movie pick for all you readers. Take Paramount Pictures at +200 because I believe the first COVID-19 movie will be how politics were behind the scene during these trouble times.
Sony Pictures at +250 seems interesting, but I believe I still have "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" on my mind as that movie was so good. I just don't see Sony Pictures winning this betting prop. The same goes with MGM Studios and Universal Pictures, as I see no betting value there as well.
