Sports Betting Futures Odds: And Then There Were Four
The top four seeds have all taken care of business and advanced to the
conference championships. With that, it is a complete logjam in terms of
which one is favorite to ultimately hoist the Lombard Trophy. New Orleans
is slightly ahead, but it has plenty of company. Meanwhile, action is also
heating up on both the hardwood and the hard courts.

Super Bowl
New Orleans Saints (+170)
- The Saints are 6-0 at home in the playoffs in the era featuring head
coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees. They were not overly
convincing against Philadelphia in the divisional round, but in the
playoffs it's all about surviving and advancing.
Kansas City Chiefs (+190)
- One of the No. 1 seeds was convincing, and it was Kansas City.
Indianapolis went into Arrowhead Stadium with a 10-1 record in its past 11
contests and promptly got abused by the Chiefs 31-13. Will youth and talent
overcome history and experience in the AFC Championship?
New England Patriots (+200)
- The Saints and Rams each own one Super Bowl title since the turn of the
century; the Patriots boast five. This may not be a typically dominant New
England team, but Bill Belichick and Tom Brady can never be discounted.
Moreover, the Pats looked great against the Chargers.
Los Angeles Rams (+280)
- Los Angeles lost out on home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs because
it fell at New Orleans 45-35 two months ago. That may end of being the
difference for the Rams, who at least got to play their postseason opener
at L.A. Coliseum and took care of the Cowboys 30-22.
Super Bowl MVP
Drew Brees (+200)
- With only four teams left, it's not too early to start thinking about the
Super Bowl or even Super Bowl MVP. Unsurprisingly, the four starting
quarterbacks are the top-four favorites. Brees is a one-time winner
already, having led New Orleans to the Lombardi Trophy in 2009.
Patrick Mahomes (+300)
- NFL MVP honors are likely coming Mahomes' way next month. Will a Super
Bowl MVP award follow? Like New Orleans, Kansas City is expected to make it
to Atlanta thanks to home-field advantage in its respective conference
championship game.
Tom Brady (+350)
- Brees' one Super Bowl MVP accolade is nice; he would have to win three more in order to catch Brady. Of course, Brady may still be
adding to his total. The 41-year-old's starts this season were not off the
charts, but he also isn't showing any real signs of slowing down.
Jared Goff (+400)
- Goff was in the NFL MVP discussion for a while, but both he and the Rams
struggled just a bit down the stretch. L.A. is the fourth Super Bowl
favorite, thus naturally making its signal-caller the fourth MVP favorite.
Todd Gurley and Alvin Kamara are the top non-QB choices at +1200.
NBA Eastern Conference
Toronto Raptors (+200)
- What James Harden is doing out West is notable, but the Warriors will
inevitably win it-right? The Eastern Conference outcome, however, is wildly
interesting. There's simply no clear-cut favorite. Newcomer Kawhi Leonard
has Toronto currently tied for first in the East standings with Milwaukee.
Boston Celtics (+230)
- The Raptors were in first alone until Wednesday's showdown in Boston,
where the Celtics got the job done 117-108. Kyrie Irving delivered 27
points and 18 assists, but he does not seem especially pleased with how
things are going. His team is mired in fifth place, six games back of
Milwaukee and Toronto.
Milwaukee Bucks (+370)
- The Bucks find themselves in a couple of races; they are leading Toronto
by percentage points in East, while Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo appear
to be duking it out for MVP honors. New head coach Mike Budenholzer seems
to be the answer in year one at the helm.
Philadelphia 76ers (+400)
- If it ended now, Boston vs. Philadelphia would be a first-round series in
the Eastern Conference. Wow. Neither team has quite gotten going this
season, but the talent on both rosters is undeniable. Joel Embiid (27.0
ppg) leads six Sixers averaging in double-figures.
Australian Open
(

Novak Djokovic to win men's title (Even)
- Djokovic is the world No. 1 and already a six-time champion in Melbourne.
Thus, he is the obvious favorite to triumph once again. The 31-year-old
Serb has not dropped a set through three rounds, including a convincing win
over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Thursday.
Roger Federer (+400)
- Don't discount Federer; he is the two-time defending champion Down Under
and also hasn't surrendered a set through two matches. The 37-year-old
Swiss is on Rafael Nadal's side of the bracket, but he has had the
Spaniard's number in recent seasons.
Serena Williams to win women's title (+275)
- Serena finished runner-up at two Grand Slams in her 2018 comeback season
following childbirth. She is far closer to 100 percent now and continued
her fortnight with a 6-2, 6-2 beatdown of Genie Bouchard on Thursday night.
Angelique Kerber (+600)
- Kerber, who beat Serena in last summer's Wimbledon final, is a former
Australian Open champion (2016). The German has been passed by 2018 Aussie
runner-up Simona Halep atop the WTA rankings, but she has been awesome in
Melbourne the past three seasons. Aryna Sabalenka is a +900 third choice.
