Free NBA Picks Wednesday, December 4 and Opening Line Report
There are a bunch of teams playing on a second back-to-back game on Wednesday. It's so hard to take any team playing a second straight game because you never know what tricks head coaches have up their sleeves. Will they give less minutes to their stars, or will the entire team be too tired to perform and play another game. Load management is a real thing. Teams truly believe it's necessary to rest their players for the future. Look out for adjustments in a couple games tomorrow.
Warriors @ Hornets (-5.0, 208.5)
The Warriors were absolutely smacked on Monday by the Hawks, 104-79. The
Hawks snapped their 10-game losing streak against the Warriors. That's how
bad it's been for Golden State this year. You can't feel too bad for them,
right? They'll now travel to Charlotte
to face the Hornets
, who took a close loss to the Suns on Monday. Marvin Williams scored 22
points, while Devonte' Graham chipped in for 13 assists. Look for that same
effort in this one. Hornets -5, easily.
Key trends:
The Warriors are 6-7 (46.2%) on the road against the spread this season.
Early lean: Hornets, Under
Bucks @ Pistons (TBD, TBD)
Milwaukee is on a roll right now. They just destroyed the Knicks at home, 132-88. They're bullying teams with poor records. The Pistons are 7-13. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 29 points along with 15 rebounds in an easy win against the Knicks. The Pistons will be on a second game of a back-to-back against Milwaukee . I can't see how this helps the Pistons in any way. I'm rolling with the Bucks no matter what the spread is.
Key trends: Bucks are 21-5-1 against the spread in their last 27 vs. NBA Central.
Early lean: Bucks, Over
Suns @ Magic (-2.5, 216.5)
The Suns are coming off a big win against the Hornets on Monday, thanks to Kelly Oubre's two clutch threes to finish the game off. He scored 23 points on the night and has enjoyed a breakout season with the Suns. Devin Booker has also been outstanding and chipped in with 23 points of his own against the Hornets. The Suns are looking to get back to .500 basketball against the Magic . This is just another game on their long road-trip. The Magic will be playing a second back-to-back against the Suns after a game against the Wizards. Games against the Wizards are high energy games. They'll be tired for this second one. Give me the Suns and the points.
Key trends: Suns are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
Early lean: Suns, Under
Heat @ Celtics (-5.5, 212.5)
The Celtics were given two days off since their win against the Knicks on Sunday. They fell behind early but clawed past the Knicks. Jayson Tatum scored 30 and Jaylen Brown scored 28. It's an easy reminder why the Celtics are so good. They can get scoring from so many options. The Heat will be playing a second game of a back-to-back after competing against the Raptors on Tuesday. With the Celtics home, I'd expect them to win against the Heat with the extra day of rest. They won't have to run the floor with the Raptors.
Key trends: Celtics are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
Early lean: Celtics, Under
Nets @ Hawks (TBD, TBD)
Brooklyn is back to .500 basketball after losing to the Miami Heat on Sunday. They had two days to recover from the close game against the Heat and will now take on the Hawks on the road. Spencer Dinwiddie vs Trae Young is a fun match-up between two guards that can flat out score. Dinwiddie had 29 points in their most recent loss to the Heat, while Trae Young scored 24 in their blowout win against the Warriors. The Nets have too much talent to allow the Hawks a chance to win this game, though. The Hawks were on a 10-game losing streak for a reason. They're young and dumb.
Key trends: Nets are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss.
Early lean: Nets, Over
Pacers @ Thunder (-1, 209.5)
How are the Pacers underdogs to the Thunder? Likely because they're on the road. The Pacers just defeated the Grizzlies 117-104 on Monday and are playing solid basketball all around. The Thunder have won two straight against the Pelicans. But that doesn't make them good. They're 8-11 on the year, with Danilo Gallinari leading them in scoring. Give me the Pacers as underdogs.
Key trends: The Pacers are 4-1 (80%) as a road underdog against the spread this season.
Early lean: Pacers, Under
Grizzlies @ Bulls (TBD, TBD)
The Grizzlies are struggling to win ball games behind Ja Morant. They've won only one game since November 15. Morant leads the team with 18.6 points per game and 6.4 assists per game. He doesn't have any support around him. The Bulls just defeated the Kings on the road, snapping a three-game losing streak. The Grizzlies perform better in this spot. It's a tossup, really. I'll stick to the trends.
Key trends: Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games.
Early lean: Bulls, Under
Timberwolves @ Mavericks (-4, 233.5)
I just told you how much Memphis stinks this year. The Timberwolves lost to them at home, 115-107, after winning their last two games. They'll face a hefty test against the Dallas Mavericks, who are 13-6 and coming off a win against the Lakers. Only three teams can say that they beat the Lakers. The Mavs are trending in the right direction, while the Timberwolves are trending down. Give me the Mavericks, -4.
Key trends: Mavericks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. Western Conference.
Early lean: Mavericks, Over
Lakers @ Jazz (-2.5, 210)
What's up with the Jazz lately? They've been a little lackadaisical in three of their last four games, losing by double digits in two of them and nine in the other. This game feels like the same will happen. The Lakers have a bunch of playmakers who can break this game open, with Anthony Davis and LeBron James, to name a few. Utah is struggling. Take the Lakers.
Key trends: Lakers are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
Early lean: Lakers, Under
Kings @ Trail Blazers (-5, 218.5)
The Kings are really hit or miss this year. They've had plenty of opportunities to be at least a .500 ball club. They have losses to the Lakers, Celtics, and Raptors by four or less points. They're still young and can't close out games. They've already beat the Blazers once this year, but that was without Carmelo Anthony, who just won the Western Conference Player of the Week for the Blazers. The Blazers are on a three-game winning streak but will play the Clippers before they meet the Kings for a second game of their back-to-back. The Kings keep many games close, and this won't be any different. Take the five points.
Key trends: Kings are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. Western Conference.
Early lean: Kings, Over
