One of the big benefits of World Cup soccer betting is the variety of wagering options available to the public. Rather than simply picking which team you believe will win the 2018 World Cup, you can bet on things like which player will score the most goals and which teams will advance out of the group stage.

I have always felt that one of the best values in World Cup soccer betting odds is in betting on the odds to win World Cup groups.

For those unfamiliar with the World Cup structure, the World Cup features 32 teams broken into eight four-team groups. Each team plays a round robin of matches, receiving three points for a win and one point for a tie. At the close of three matches, the two teams with the most points qualify to advance to the Round of 16, or Knockout Stage.

2018 World Cup Group A Predictions: The biggest story in this group involves the hosts. Russia is overmatched in world soccer. But only one host nation has ever failed to make the knockout round, and the emotion and spectacle around this team's matches will be wild. However, Luis Suarez and the Uruguay side have sneaky potential to go deep into this tournament. They are a long way from home but are clear-cut favorites to win this group and should do so handily.

2018 World Cup Group B Predictions: According to FIFA's international soccer rankings, Portugal is the No. 4 team in the world. Spain is No. 8. Yet the Spanish side is a massive favorite over the Portuguese to win this group. Portugal is the defending Euro 2016 champions and they boast the world's greatest goal scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo. Spain won the 2010 World Cup but will try to overcome the bitter memories of their woeful 2014. They should manage.

2018 World Cup Group C Predictions: Les Bleus are one of the favorites to win the World Cup and really should dominate this group. However, France has flamed out on the international stage before with humiliating group efforts in both 2002 and 2010. Australia and Peru are two of the weakest teams in the field. Denmark and Peru were also two of the last teams to qualify, with both needing playoff wins to secure their bids.

2018 World Cup Group D Predictions: I absolutely think that this group is ripe for an upset winner. Argentina is overrated, with the brilliance of Lionel Messi glossing over the shakiness of the rest of this roster. Croatia is ranked in the Top 20 and has Luka Modric. Nigeria won Africa's best qualifying group and has a load of attacking talent. And Iceland parlayed a quarterfinal run in Euro 2016 into a rock solid qualifying spell, becoming the smallest nation to ever compete in the World Cup. They are no pushovers, as demonstrated by their effort in France two summers ago.

2018 World Cup Group E Predictions: Brazil is as close to automatic as it comes in the World Cup. Brazil has not lost in the group stage yet this century (10-0-2). Over the course of the last 50 years they have lost exactly once in the group stage, falling 2-1 to Norway in 1998. They are 23-1-9 against their initial group over the last 50 years. And since the format change in 1986, Brazil has won its group six consecutive World Cups.

2018 World Cup Group F Predictions: Zee Germans are right behind Brazil in terms of being the largest group stage favorites. Germany was the only club in the world to go undefeated in qualifying (10-0) while posting a plus-43 goal differential. Oh yeah, and they are the defending champions. Germany faces Mexico in the group's first match, and that one could go a long way in determining who finishes at the top of this group.

2018 World Cup Group G Predictions: England is perpetually overrated in international soccer. The Three Lions failed to survive the group stage in Brazil in 2014 and they have just one win in the last two World Cups. Belgium is a dark horse to win this tournament, boasting one of the strongest cores of young talent in all of Europe. Tunisia is actually Africa's highest-ranked team, sitting at No. 14 in the most recent FIFA World Rankings, and could be a live wire to advance if the Brits slip again. Panama is just happy to be here.

2018 World Cup Group H Predictions: As the odds suggest, this is the most balanced and competitive group at the World Cup. Any of these four teams has a realistic shot at finishing at the top of the table, and Colombia and Poland are very soft as the 1-2 favorites.
