The 2018 World Cup kicks off June 14, and I'm counting the days until this tournament starts! Here I preview the first of eight groups that will be traveling to Russia. Group D has been called the Group of Death, and this group will be one of the most entertaining groups to watch as it has one of the greatest football players of all time, Lionel Messi of Argentina. Three out of four countries can actually win this group, and it's no secret Argentina will have a bullseye target on their back every time they take the pitch. I believe Group of Death is an understatement for Group D, and I can't wait for Saturday June 16 for this group to drop the ball and start playing football. Breakdown - Predictions

Argentina is almost guaranteed to win Group D, and if Messi goes off in this group they should have no problem advancing to the Round of 16. At the same time, Argentina can flame out and not even make it out of this group, because don't forget they struggled just to make it to the World Cup. I can't wait to watch the battle between Croatia and Nigeria, and I have to lean towards Croatia because they have one of the most talented minefields in international football; that is why it wouldn't shock me to see Croatia steal this group from Argentina. Nigeria will be a tough out in group play, but I see them falling a bit short in advancing. And for Iceland, your Cinderella story stops here.
