Weekly Q&A with Doc's Sports Expert Handicapper Raphael Esparza

Doc's: We have been talking about your top team to watch in each of the major college conferences when it comes to this football season. This week, the conference to cover is the ACC. Clemson is a heavy favorite to repeat, but is there any other ACC team that can give the Tigers a run for their money this season?

RE: Clemson has quickly developed into one of the top programs in college football under the guidance of head coach Dabo Sweeney. However, the Tigers do not get the respect they deserve playing in the ACC. Miami and Florida State are probably the next two best teams in that conference this season, but the gap between those two teams and Clemson is too wide to close.

Doc's: You mentioned that you are working on selections for a group of NFL team and player props ahead of the start of the 2018 regular season. Betting the "over" or "under" on a team's projected win total is one of the most popular team props. Can you give us one or two teams with the best value in the current betting odds for either play?

RE: I like the over on Carolina's eight-win total in a NFC South Division race that is too close to call. The Panthers are just a few seasons removed from a run to the Super Bowl, and their defense should keep them in just about every game they play. I would also go with the over on Pittsburgh's 10.5 win total. The Steelers are clearly the class of the AFC North in what should add up to six wins in division play.

Doc's: You are one of the few handicappers in the nation that will release betting picks for professional wrestling. With the WWE Summer Slam on tap for this Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which matches would be at the top of your betting list?

RE: At least one +200 or higher underdog has won a match in each of the past four WWE Summer Slam events. This adds some solid value to Kevin Owens as a +220 underdog against Braun Strowman and well as for a bet on Dolph Ziggler as a +205 underdog against Seth Rollins.

Doc's: Another good example of the diversity in your selection packages are betting picks for this year's Little League World Series. Which teams have caught your eye heading into this year's competition starting on Thursday in Williamsport?

RE: Japan is the clear favorite among the international teams. However, I think that Mexico could make things interesting behind some solid pitching. My top team to watch from the US would be Hawaii. This team has already demonstrated some good depth throughout the roster as well as the ability to put runs on the board.

Doc's: Finally, you recently posted a pop culture betting piece on Doc's blog for props surrounding the release of a new "Halloween" movie later this fall . Of the betting picks you made for these movie props, which one would be your top unit play?

RE: There are a number of interesting props in the piece, but my top-valued play would be the -160 odds that Michael Myers will kill Laurie Strode, who is played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the movie. I see this movie franchise moving away from some original characters in an effort to appeal to a younger audience
