Sports Betting Futures Odds: Patriots, Eagles Set for Super Bowl LII
Only one more game in the NFL season remains, and as usual it will be
coached by Bill Belichick and quarterbacked by Tom Brady. The New England
Patriots are back in the Super Bowl, to be opposed by the Philadelphia
Eagles this time around. Brady vsā¦Nick Foles?!?! What more could you ask
for?!?!

Super Bowl
New England Patriots (-5) over Philadelphia Eagles
- The Patriots don't have to play a road game in the Super Bowl now that
the Minnesota Vikings are out. Even without starting quarterback Carson
Wentz, the Eagles managed to scrape past the Atlanta Falcons before
destroying Minnesota in the NFC Championship.
Over/Under 48
- The Eagles have allowed a grand total of 17 points in two playoffs
games-10 to the Falcons and seven to the Vikings (zero after Minnesota's
opening touchdown drive). Philadelphia finished the regular season fourth
in total defense and fourth in scoring defense, but New England boasts the
NFL's No. 1 offense.
Tom Brady to win MVP (-150)
- The Patriots are considerable favorites to win the football game, and if
they do, chances are obviously good that Brady bags another Super Bowl MVP
award. The 40-year-old already has four of these things to go along with
five Lombardi trophies. And despite his age, he is clearly not slowing
down.
Rob Grownkowski to score first touchdown (+800)
- Gronkowski is listed as "concussed" on the Patriots' initial injury
report. The star tight end, who also missed last year's Super Bowl against
the Falcons, left the AFC Championship in the first half following a big
hit. New England running back Dion Lewis is also a +800 co-favorite.
NFL Draft No. 1 pick
Sam Darnold (+175)
- Who will suffer the fate of being shipped off to the Cleveland Browns?
The bad news for Darnold (but good news for his bank account) is that he is
the "favorite." The good news for Darnold (but not as good for his bank
account) is that Josh Rosen and Josh Allen are also in the very serious
mix.
Josh Rosen (+190)
- The Pac-12 quarterbacks are the leaders of the pack. In two full seasons
at UCLA (not including one shortened one), Rosen had 49 TDs and 21 INTs.
Darnold wasn't as good in his sophomore season at USC as he was as a
freshman, but he still tossed 26 touchdowns and passed for more than 4,000
yards.
Josh Allen (+275)
- Allen is nowhere near as big of a name as Darnold or Rosen. Such is life
when you play for Wyoming in the Mountain West Conference. NFL scouts love
his size (6'5'' and 233 pounds) and his numbers are not bad, either. Rosen
finished with 16 TDs, six INTs, and he also rushed for five additional
scores.
Saquon Barkley (+1000)
- If a quarterback does not get taken No. 1 overall, Barkley may be the
reason why. Cleveland in all likelihood feels it needs a new franchise QB,
but it also needs help all over the offensive side of the ball. Barkley,
once the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, has all the tools to succeed
at the next level.
To win at least one major in 2018
(MyBookie.ag)
Jordan Spieth (+110)
- Spieth's consistency is such that he can always counted on to at least be
in contention. The 24-year-old American has not finished worse than T37 at
any major since the 2014 PGA Championship. He has since won three-twice in
2015 and again at last summer's British Open.
Dustin Johnson (+150)
- After 11 top-10 performances at majors, Johnson finally got over the hump
at the 2016 U.S. Open. He promptly turned in another top-10 showing (ninth)
at the British Open. But a fluke back injury prior to last year's Masters
touched off a disappointing 2017 at the four majors.
Tiger Woods (+500)
- Tiger is back this week at Torrey Pines, where is already focusing on
fine-tuning his game for the Masters in April. The 14-time major champion
inspired come confidence with a solid performance at the Hero World
Challenge at the end of last year (tied for ninth at 8-under par).
Jon Rahm (+300)
- Has any golfer more quietly climbed to No. 2 in the world than Rahm? Yes,
the 23-year-old Spaniard is the second-ranked golfer on the planet-ahead of
Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, just to name a few. Rahm's current month
already includes a runner-up showing in Kapalua and a title in La Quinta.
Best Picture at the Academy Awards
'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' (-115)
- Three Billboards picked up Best Picture (Drama) honors at the
recent Golden Globe Awards, establishing itself as the favorite at the
Oscars. Frances McDormand won Best Actress (Drama) at the Golden Globes,
and she is a -750 favorite in that category at the Oscars.
'The Shape of Water' (+100)
- The Shape of Water was nominated for Best Picture (Drama) at the
Globes along with Three Billboards, Dunkirk, The Post, and Call Me by Your Name. Sally Hawkins was
nominated for Best Actress (Drama). Once an afterthought, Shape's
odds have soared in recent weeks.
'Lady Bird' (+600)
- Lady Bird won Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) at the Golden
Globe Awards, so something will have to give between it and Three Billboards at the Oscars in early March. Saoirse Ronan is a
+950 third choice for Best Actress, and Greta Gerwig is a +550 third choice
for Best Director.
Get Out (+1000)
- Nothing can compete with Get Out in the Rotten Tomatoes
department, as it currently boasts a 99 percent rating. As for the awards,
however, films such as this one (a horror with some comedic effects) rarely
take home the biggest prizes. Dunkirk is a +1800 fifth choice.
