Sports Betting Futures Odds: Fitzpatrick Has Buccaneers atop NFC South
If odds have anything to say about it, you won't find an NFL division with
more parity than the NFC South-not right now and probably not ever. The
Buccaneers were once underdogs, but quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has them
off to a division-best 2-0 start. Meanwhile, the final tournament of the
2018 PGA Tour season is taking place this week in Atlanta.

NFC South
Atlanta Falcons (+195)
- The Falcons are 1-0 in the division after avoiding an 0-2 start
(previously lost at Philadelphia) by beating Carolina 31-24 this past
Sunday. Atlanta has plenty of talent, but it will need to have a lot of
depth because safety Keanu Neal is already out for the season and
linebacker Deion Jones is on short-term injured reserve.
New Orleans Saints (+240)
- New Orleans (11-5) won the NFC South last year with a tiebreaker over
Carolina and one game clear of Atlanta (both the Falcons and Panthers
earned wild cards). The Saints look like a similar squad in 2018, with a
high-powered passing attack and a porous defense that gave up 48 points to
Tampa Bay in Week 1.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+300)
- Speaking of Tampa Bay, it is the talk of the football world through two
weeks. After picking up a road victory over New Orleans, Fitzpatrick went
absolutely bonkers again in a home win over defending Super Bowl champion
Philadelphia. Fitzpatrick has 819 yards and eight touchdowns through two
games.
Carolina Panthers (+350)
- You know a division is loaded when Carolina is dead last in terms of odds
to win. The Panthers have reached the playoffs in four of the past five
seasons and once again boast a strong roster-even with tight end Greg Olsen
sidelined for about five weeks. Carolina beat Dallas before falling at
Atlanta in Week 2.

Cleveland to go 0-15-1 (+800)
- The Browns went 0-16 last season and have not won a game since Dec. 24,
2016, which was their first victory of that year following an 0-14 start.
Cleveland, though, was really not far away from beginning 2018 with a 2-0
record. It tied Pittsburgh in Week 1 and then led New Orleans on the road
in the fourth quarter.
Le'Veon Bell to play at any point this season (-400)
- What is going on with the Steelers these days? Bell is still holding out,
and now Antonio Brown, who has been absent from the team facility this
week, is talking about wanting a trade. Bell is -160 to still be on the
Steelers on Nov. 1, while New England is a +140 second choice.
Josh Gordon to do a "puff puff pass" TD celebration in 2018 (+300)
- Gordon "must smoke the football like a blunt" in order for this bet to
pay off. Firstly, he will have to score a touchdown to have a chance. The
27-year-old did that on his only reception with the Browns this season
before getting cut. He signed with New England on Monday.
Ryan Fitzpatrick to pass for 400 yards and four TDs in Week 3 (+300)
- Will Fitzpatrick reach the 400-yard and four-touchdown marks for a third
consecutive game? At first glance a date with Pittsburgh is not ideal.
However, these are not your typical Steelers; they gave up 21 points to
Cleveland and then 42 to Kansas City.
UEFA Champions League
Manchester City (+450)
- The 2018-19 Champions League gets underway this week with the beginning
of the group stage. Manchester City has never won it all, and no English
Premier League side has triumphed since 2011-12 (Chelsea). The Sky Blues
are better than ever, though, having won the EPL by 19 points last season.
Juventus (+600)
- Cristiano Ronaldo has won three consecutive Champions League titles (all
with Real Madrid). He beat his current club, Juventus, in the 2016-17
final, and the Zebras also finished runner-up (to FC Barcelona) in 2014-15.
They are cooking right now with Ronaldo, undefeated through four Serie A
matches this season.
FC Barcelona (+600)
- Juventus is fourth on the all-time Champions League list with nine final
appearances. Barcelona is tied for fifth at eight, which includes a 4-0
record in its last four trips (2006, 2009, 2011, and 2015). Led by Lionel
Messi, Barca is off to a 4-0 start in Spain's top division with 11 goals
scored and just three allowed.
Paris Saint-Germain (+700)
- PSG has never won the Champions League or even advanced to a final, but a
recent spending spree has it poised for more. The Parisians now feature
both Neymar and 2018 World Cup sensation Kylian Mbappe. They are off to a
dominant start in Ligue 1 (5-0 with 17 goals for and only four against).
Top American at the TOUR Championship
Dustin Johnson (+550)
- The FedEx Cup comes to a close this week in Atlanta, where Johnson led by
two strokes going into the final round in 2016 and should have run away
with the FedEx Cup. But a Sunday 73 dashed his hopes. The 34-year-old has
been in unspectacular form since winning the RBC Canadian Open in late
July.
Justin Thomas (+650)
- At No. 5 in the FedEx Cup standings, Thomas controls his own destiny in
that he wins the cup if he also wins the TOUR Championship. The best player
by a mile through three months of 2018, the 25-year-old has cooled off a
bit but has still delivered three top-10 performances in his last five
tournaments.
Brooks Koepka (+750)
- Koepka has surpassed Thomas in the PGA's Player of the Year race with two
major titles (U.S. Open and PGA Championship). The world No. 2 owns three
top-20 showings in three playoff events this summer, including a T8 at The
Northern Trust. Koepka placed a respectable T8 last year at East Lake.
Tiger Woods (+750)
- It was not a slam dunk until the conclusion of the third playoff event,
but Tiger will make a highly anticipated return to the TOUR Championship.
The 14-time major champion has not yet won on tour this season, but he has
been solid-and healthy-from start to finish. Tiger placed T6 at the BMW
Championship.
