Sports Betting Futures Odds: And Then There Were Four….
How wild has football been over the past few weeks? Living up the standards
set by the Rose Bowl and the National Championship, the NFL produced plenty
of drama itself during the divisional round of the playoffs. Now it's time
for conference championships this weekend, with New England hosting upstart
Jacksonville and Minnesota somehow managing to book a trip to Philadelphia.

Super Bowl
New England Patriots (+100)
- After New England edged Pittsburgh in Week 15, the two teams went in
totally opposite directions. The Patriots used that win to snag the AFC's
No. 1 seed and now they will host Jacksonville rather than the Steelers in
the AFC Championship. A second straight Super Bowl title is looking likely.
Minnesota Vikings (+175)
- In one of the most improbable endings in NFL history, Minnesota scored on
a 61-yard touchdown pass as time expired to stun the Saints-who only needed
to make a simple tackle in bounds. The Vikings have to go on the road this
weekend, but they would actually host the Super Bowl if they beat Philly.
Philadelphia Eagles (+700)
- The Eagles were home underdogs against Atlanta and they played like it
for a while before prevailing 15-10. They are home 'dogs once again on
Sunday, as quarterback Nick Foles has failed to convince the betting
public. Case Keenum, on the other hand, has his offense complimenting
Minnesota's awesome 'D.'
Jacksonville Jaguars (+900)
- It sounded like a few Steelers were already looking ahead to New England.
Unfortunately for them, they forgot about Jacksonville-or "Sacksonville" as
the team is affectionately known these days. The Jaguars' defense is a
beast, but they have not yet faced a test like New England on the road.
Conference championships
New England Patriots ( -9.5) vs.
Jacksonville Jaguars
- This will be an intriguing battle between the Patriots' Tom Brady-led
offensive attack and Jacksonville's vaunted defense. But which Jaguars'
offense will show up? That is also key. They scored a laughable 10 points
against Buffalo before exploding for 45 at Pittsburgh.
New England Patriots vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (Over/Under 46.5)
- As the aforementioned blurb suggests, it is hard to know which
Jacksonville offense will be on display this weekend. That may depend on
New England's defensive unit, which was a disaster at the start of the
season but turned things around in a hurry.
Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
- The Eagles limited Atlanta to 10 points last Saturday, including a grand
total of zero in the second half. Granted, the Falcons' offense was not the
same as it was in 2016, but they had more weapons than the Vikings have at
present. Of course, Minnesota's defense is second to none.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Over/Under 38)
- The Vikings featured the NFL's top-ranked defense in the regular season
by a mile (275.9 ypg), and they were also No. 1 in scoring defense (15.8
ppg, one point better than Jacksonville). Philadelphia's defense,
meanwhile, finished fourth in both yards and points allowed.
Champions League
Manchester City (+250)
- The streak is over; Man City had won 22 English Premier League matches in
a row before losing at Liverpool 4-3 last weekend. Still, the Sky Blues are
a virtual lock to win that title-12 points clear of Manchester United.
Winning the Champions League, of course, will be tougher.
Bayern Munich (+500)
- Bayern Munich is even more dominant in Germany's Bundesliga than
Manchester City is in the Premier League, at least according to points lead
(currently 13). The Reds are tied for third on the all-time list with five
Champions League titles, having most recently triumphed in 2013.
Paris Saint-Germain (+500)
- PSG, which is currently running away with France's Ligue 1, has never
captured a Champions League title and has never even been to the final.
That could change now the Neymar is on board. The Parisians have a round of
16 Champions League showdown against Real Madrid forthcoming.
Barcelona (+550)
- Barcelona is one of the clubs tied with Bayern Munich (five UCL titles).
Lionel Messi and company most recently lifted the trophy in 2015, and they
may do it again based on current form (dominating Spain's top league right
now). Two-time defending champion Real Madrid is a +550 fifth choice.
Winter Olympics medal count
(

)
Germany (+175) - With Russia basically banned from next month's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the medal race should come down to Germany, Norway, the United States, and Canada. The Germans finished second behind Team USA eight years ago in Canada before struggling at the next games in Sochi.
Norway (+175)
- Norway finished third on the total table in 2014 and took over the
gold-medal lead in November of 2017. That's right; November of 2017-when
Russia had two gold medals stripped. The Norwegians are positively dominant
in the cross-country skiing department.
United States (+400)
- The Americans totally dominated in Vancouver (37 total medals) even
though the host Canadians topped the gold-medal chart with 14. A 28-medal
haul in Sochi was enough to get the job done there, too, even though the
effort was far from dominant like it was in 2010.
Canada (+700) - How's this for a medal battle at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi? United States: 28; Norway: 26; Canada: 25; the Netherlands: 24. Russia and Germany were not too far behind. Canada has earned 10 golds at each of the last two Winter Olympics. The Netherlands is a +1600 fifth choice.
