Star Wars: The Last Jedi Betting Odds with Expert Predictions

I know it's only May and the new Star Wars movie doesn't open until December. However, when it comes to anything and everything Star Wars is it ever a bad time to talk about it or bet on the next installment of the iconic movie franchise? Last December Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a huge success, and Disney will be looking to strike gold again this coming December when the new Star Wars movie comes out.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be huge at the box office just like it's predecessor Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it wouldn't shock me if The Last Jedi surpasses the numbers The Force Awakens made. So much mystery is surrounding the film and I see big surprises coming out of The Last Jedi.

In December 2015 Star Wars: The Force Awakens blew up the box office, grossing $963.7 million in North America and $2.068 billion worldwide. The Force Awakens closing betting odds for a worldwide gross was set for 'Over' $1 Billion dollars -360 and 'Under' $1 Billion dollars +240. I see the same results in this new installment The Last Jedi, and with the mystery of where this storyline could be going it wouldn't shock me to see The Last Jedi blow away The Force Awakens and Rogue One.

I'm still shocked that they killed Han Solo in the Force Awakens, and we all know that Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) died last year, but I still think a major character dies in this upcoming Star Wars movie. Maz Kanata in Force Awakens was the Force-sensitive humanoid female that gave Rey Luke Skywalker's lightsaber, and shockingly she is +200 to die first in the Last Jedi but I'm going with another shocker movie moment and picking Luke Skywalker to die first. Remember in Star Wars: The New Hope when Obi-Wan Kenobi died at the hands of Darth Vader and he was still seen and heard throughout three more movies? I see the same thing happening here. KyloRen kills Luke but that only makes Luke and Rey much stronger in the force, and I cash my +150 on Luke Skywalker dying first in the Last Jedi.

This prop is very interesting because some early Star Wars novels said that Princess Leia and Han Solo got married and had twins (one being KyloRen). After Star Wars: The Force Awakens the internet blew up wondering if Rey was Luke Skywalker's daughter and I even saw T-Shirts on the web saying, "Luke, You Are My Father" with a picture of Rey. I'm sticking with my gut in this prop saying that Rey is the twin of KyloRen and daughter of Leia and Han, and we might find this answer in the Last Jedi.

Getting +280 on the YES seems very tempting just because it's a Star Wars movie. With the huge opening numbers the Force Awakens and Rogue One made, you have to figure the Last Jedi is going to have a monster opening weekend, and I see this new Star Wars movie blowing numbers out of the water.
