The Summer Olympics in Brazil ends on Sunday. However, if you need betting action on a different sporting event, how about WWE wrestling? Sunday night the biggest WWE PPV of the summer takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and I can guarantee the crowd will be rowdy and energetic. After a pretty good Battleground PPV in July the WWE Universe is expecting a big night in Brooklyn, and I'm looking for big cash Sunday night at SummerSlam.
This Sunday's SummerSlam is four hours long, and this WWE PPV card is not only stacked but has some unbelievable betting value. Eleven matches are on the PPV card, and this card will see title switches, unbelievable WWE stars, back stabbing and of course SummerSlam will produce surprising in-ring appearances. Most offshore books will take a bit more money on this PPV event because it's the biggest PPV of the summer and the WWE suits in the back are usually tight lipped when it comes to this SummerSlam card. Now that WWE has not ONE but TWO live shows during the week, you can expect tons of surprises and these surprising events will carry over to those live midweek shows. Our friends over at Paddypower were the first to post odds on all 10 matches, including some very interesting prop bets for this huge WWE PPV event. This card has some interesting betting value.
My WWE betting predictions have been profitable, and at Money in the Bank we cashed three out five matches. In my last 16 WWE PPVs I am 73-27 (73 percent), and if you are going to place some cash on these WWE matches I highly recommend betting them early because these numbers move quickly because of low limits. Again, SummerSlam is a bigger event, so numbers might not move quickly like other smaller PPVs. SummerSlam should also set up some outstanding matches for the next couple of PPVs, and we could see some long storylines and maybe just maybe some surprise guest/wrestlers pop in the Barclays Center to make things very interesting Sunday night.
Here are the odds and my betting predictions - Odds Provided by 5Dimes
Tag Team
Enzo Amore & Big Cass +120
Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens -160
Prediction: I'm actually shocked that Enzo Amore and Big Cass are the underdogs in this tag team match. When this number was posted, Enzo & Cass were small favorites, and it looks like the money has all come in on Jericho & Owens. Jericho and Owens don't need the win, and it could help establish the new talent in Enzo and Cass. First prediction and it's a nice plus money underdog as Enzo & Cass take the win, and look for them to be in the mix for the tag team belts.
Singles Match (Best of Seven Series)
Cesaro +150
Sheamus -190
Prediction: I don't know why this match is a 'Best of Seven Series" match because I see this feud lasting until early October. Here is another shocking
number as I can see both wrestlers coming out on top and with this feud carrying over. I see Cesaro winning as he will get a huge pop from the Brooklyn
fans. So, yes, taking the plus money again and getting Cesaro +150 is a steal.
WWE Tag Team Championship
Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson -300
The New Day +220
Prediction: I really want to make it three straight underdog predictions, but in this match for the Tag Team Championship belt I just can't pull the
trigger. The New Day has had the belt for almost a full year, and with the Big Guy missing for The New Day its time to make new champions. We also could
see the New Day feuding as well, but for this match take the -300 on Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson and Sunday night we will see new Tag Team Champions.
Intercontinental Championship
Apollo Crews +155
The Miz -195
Prediction: Apollo Crews is still wet behind the ears, and what I have seen from him since being promoted to the main roster has been luke warm. Apollo
Crews will have a belt on his waist sooner than later, but Sunday night I don't see him beating the Miz. A little shocked that the Miz wasn't around -300
or higher, so if you can get him around -200 I believe that is an outstanding betting value.
Women's Championship
Sasha Banks +200
Charlotte -280
Prediction: WOW! When this number was posted the champ Sasha Banks was the favorite, and Thursday night when I logged onto 5Dimes Charlotte was the heavy
favorite. I thought this was going to be one of the easiest predictions on the card, but I guess the suits in the back have something else up their
sleeves. Banks and Charlotte have had some great matches in the past, and I would be shocked to see the champ Banks lose Sunday night. I will take Sasha in
this SummerSlam match.
United States Championship
Rusev -285
Roman Reigns +205
Prediction: Reigns losses this match because I still believe he is being punished for his failed drug test. This will be a very entertaining match, and
since Reigns beat Rusev on Monday night I see Rusev retaining the belt on Sunday. This betting number will climb, and it wouldn't shock me to see Rusev
close around -400 or higher.
Universal Championship
Finn Balor -160
Seth Rollins +120
Prediction: With this match being for the first-ever WWE Universal Championship, you would think the suits in the back would give the belt to Seth Rollins Sunday night. Hold your horses! Here is another match where I see this feud lasting a couple months, and giving the belt to Seth Rollins I feel like that would kill the fued before it really got started. Balor was the biggest star in NXT and he is a huge fan favorite on the main roster while Rollins is currently WWE's top heel, and I just don't see Balor losing this match. This will be the best match on the card, and Balor will be your first Universal Champion because I see this feud lasting for a couple months.
Singles Match
John Cena +270
AJ Styles -390
Prediction: AJ Styles beat John Cena at Money in the Bank, and at Battleground Cena lost to Styles and the Club in a tag match. So with those losses I feel like it's time for Cena to get a win over Styles and YES we are grabbing this big +270 because we feel like its time for the "Face that runs the Place" to get a major victory on a big PPV event. I know they need Styles to bring in the audience on SmackDown Live, but I still feel that if Styles losses he still will get a major push for upcoming PPV.
Singles Match
Brock Lesnar -400
Randy Orton +280
Prediction: I like how they have been building this match, and this one will be brutal. I can guarantee that someone will be bleeding. Orton will be introduced to multiple supplexes, and Lesnar will be RKO, but overall the Beast will come out on top. Lesnar hasn't lost a clean match since Triple H pinned him at WrestleMania 29 three and a half years ago, and Sunday night there is no upside of Randy Orton beating Brock Lesnar. This number will climb to over -600, so if you want to parlay this match with another grab the -400 now.
World Championship
Dean Ambrose -750
Dolph Ziggler +450
Prediction: This has to be one of the weakest World Championship matches in SummerSlam history. There is no way that Dolph Ziggler is winning the title
Sunday night because Dean Ambrose will be the top SmackDown's No. 1 babyface, and this top babyface will have the belt for a while. Look for Ambrose to
beat Ziggler and start feuding with AJ Styles, and I see Styles beating Ambrose for the belt. Too many good options for Ambrose to lose the belt after
SummerSlam, and it just doesn't make sense for giving the belt to Ziggler. The easiest prediction for Sunday night is this match, and the oddsmakers agree.
