Who will Die Next on Game of Thrones? Expert Predictions with Betting Odds
by Raphael Esparza - 6/16/2016
It's no secret that "Game of Thrones" is one of the hottest shows on TV and one of the most talked about shows on social media and at office water coolers and family gatherings and dinner with friends. The sixth season of Game of Thrones ends in two weeks, and the next two episodes are going to be epic and jaw-dropping. It's also no secret that we will see a huge shocking death in the next couple of episodes. Therefore, while we wait, let's lay some cash down on who will get the axe in the next couple of weeks of Game of Thrones.
I'm still not over the last death when Hodor died saving Bran Stark, and in that episode we got to learn so much of Hodor's backstory. I was a big fan of Hodor, and if they can kill him off then anyone is vulnerable as we move towards the end of the season.
Our friends over at Bovada have posted odds on which character will perish next, and with only two episodes left in the season I see more than one death happening.
Game of Thrones - Which character will perish next?
Loras Tyrell +375
Tyrell has been in religious prison all season long, and yes this pick deserves to be one of the favorites. But that is too easy. We don't know if the gods have forgiven him for his sins, so that is also up in the air, but for me Tyrell survives the next two weeks. A bit shocked that Loras was the favorite to begin with, but there are rumors that the actor playing Tyrell is landing a big role in the upcoming Netflix series, Marvel's "Iron Fist"!
Ramsay Bolton (Snow) +450
Right now everybody who watches Game of the Thrones wants Bolton decapitated, poisoned, or his manhood chopped off, but again here is another too easy of a pick. When Ramsay Bolton dies I'm hoping Sansa Stark does it with a big smile on her face, and I don't see Ramsay dying this season. Sorry female Game of Thrones watchers.
High Sparrow +600
The High Sparrow is one of the major characters this season, and I'm shocked that no one has put a sword in his back. The High Sparrow is my pick to perish next, and it will be well deserved, but the sad part about the High Sparrow perishing is that I have no clue who will do it because he has burned tons of bridges. Take the +600 because I believe the High Sparrow has great value.
Tommen Baratheon +600
Would love to see King Tommen Baratheon die now that he is side by side with the High Sparrow and appears to be a pushover idiot, but no way do we see another King go down yet. I have a feeling Tommen Baratheon will be around to see somebody else grab the Throne. Here is another betting number that should be higher.
Tormund +900
Here is another character that I believe should be higher because Tormund has been a major character and ally for Jon Snow. We do have a big battle coming up, so maybe that is why Tormund is 9-1, but I see him surviving and he will be a major character in the seventh season.
Yara Greyjoy 18-1
Yara Greyjoy could be a nice underdog play for me! If Yara gets killed then Theon Greyjoy will have to step up, and I don't know a fan who hasn't felt a bit bad for him. If or when Yara Greyjoy dies it wouldn't shock me if it's by the hand of Euron Greyjoy. This three-person Greyjoy battle will be interesting, but I see all three Greyjoys surviving season six. Season seven? Well, that's another story!
Theon Greyjoy 20-1
Read the above, but again I see Theon Greyjoy not perishing this Sunday or next Sunday. Again, he has been through a lot since Season 3 being tortured and worst of all castrated. Yes, I know he deserved to be punished, but being castrated is where I draw the line. Theon Greyjoy in my eyes survives and it wouldn't shock me to see him be alive towards the end of the series.
Margaery Tyrell 15-1
Margaery Tyrell avoided doing the naked walk of shame, which I'm still upset about, but she is too clever to die anytime soon. Her storyline is going to be fun to watch next season, and at 15-1 save your money because we will see her for the seventh season.
Olenna Tyrell 20-1
Margaery Tyrell lives to see another day, but Olenna Tyrell at 20-1 has great value. No disrespect to the elder, but she can die from just age alone next week or the season finale. Olenna is making enemies all over the place, and we did see a secret note being passed from Margaery last episode. However, that doesn't mean she is safe. I really thought Olenna Tyrell would be around 12-1, so again since I am getting 20-1 I might have to throw some small coin on this character. I do think we all agree when Olenna Tyrell goes it will be by poison, and I would give out over 100-1 that she would die by beheading.
Daario Naharis 30-1
Absolutely no way Daario Naharis is dying in the next two weeks, and I would have had him on the list towards the bottom. If you think about it, his character really isn't that big, so killing him would not be a shocker or newsworthy. So he is safe for now, but eventually he will get a blade in him.
Grey Worm 25-1
Here is another character that should be around 60-1 or higher, and him dying soon is not in the cards or storyline that I have seen. Worm has already had a brush with death, so if he was going to die soon they would have done it already. If and when Grey Worm dies I'm sure he will take a blade for Missandei, and right now the story doesn't seem like its going that way.
Jaime Lannister 30-1
I think we all agree that Jaime Lannister will die sometime, and it wouldn't shock me if his sister/partner/lover Cersei stabs him in the back. No value betting Jaime Lannister at 30-1 as he is safe and he will be around for a while I think.
Jorah Mormont 33-1
Rock solid value on Jorah Mormont (sorry for the bad pun), but this would be a shocking death I believe. We all know he is trying to find a cure since he is infected with Greyscale, but that would shock the audience if he died before finding the cure. Not saying this is going to happen, but we all know how he feels about the Queen of Dragons, so again his death this week or next would be shocking and water cooler talk Monday morning.
Lady Melisandre 33-1
Would love to say jump on this 33-1 character perishing next. But would this shock you if she died next? To me the she has lost a step and I'm still grossed out seeing her naked as a 100-year-old woman, so her death because of that is worthy. I said before that we could see multiple deaths these next two weeks, so you can bet your bottom dollar that I will have ticket on Lady Melisandre at 33-1. With them introducing a new red witch, either Lady Melisandre will stay around or the new red witch gets all the attention. Either way, 33-1 is great value!
Podrick Payne 35-1
Another un-shocking death if they were to kill Podrick Payne. In fact, I wish they used him more in the story. If he is going to be in the battle coming then maybe I would throw some action on Podrick, but since he is going to miss the fun of a TV battle I believe his big manhood will be safe this season.
Brienne of Tarth 35-1
There is no chance in bloody hell that this bad ass of a woman is going to die in the next couple of weeks. She will protect Sansa Stark for a while, and here again is another character that should be much higher.
Euron Greyjoy 40-1
Read the Yara and Theon Greyjoy sections for other details, but Euron Greyjoy will die. However, it won't be this season. Euron just returned to Iron Islands and has already stirred the pot. His day is coming, but not in the next two weeks. This story line is going to be good TV watching.
Missandei 40-1
The Missandei and Grey Worm stoylines are side by side, and for some odd reason if one of them dies I believe both die. With Daenerys Targaryen back in t,he mix last Sunday I see something big going down but Missandei dying next week or the season finale is not going to happen. Maybe at the end of the story she will marry Grey Worm….if they both survive to the end of the story!
Ghost 40-1
They can't kill Ghost the Wolf can they? If so, PETA might be mad! Ghost survives, and I see him surviving the whole story.
Davos 45-1
You want something that would be shocking and something to talk about on Monday then lay your money on Davos and maybe just maybe cash a big ticket. This is a big underdog, but I'm all about the shock and awe, and what a way to end the sixth season with Davos being killed. He's such a major character that was involved in bringing back Jon Snow, so why not take away someone that was involved in the Jon Snow reawakening. I'm not saying that I have the inside scoop of the storyline, but at 45-1 I'm all over Davos getting the axe this Sunday or next.
Drogon 45-1
Drogon is slightly larger than his siblings and is very shy compared to the other dragons, but as long as Daenerys Targaryen is alive so will be Drogon.
Arya Stark 50-1
If she didn't die the last couple of weeks why would she die now? Arya Stark should be around 80-1 or higher, and if you read other articles I have done about Game of Thrones you know why Arya Stark is not dying anytime soon.
Jaquen H'ghar 50-1
Before last weeks episode this could have been a nice long shot pick at 50-1 but if Arya Stark didn't at least try to kill him I believe he is safe. Going to be interesting if this character resumes in the storyline and whether we see more surprises coming from Jaquen H'ghar.
Lord Varys 55-1
Lord Varys, Varys, or The Spider will not die this week, next week, or even next season. He's going to be a major character probably until the end, and the chemistry he has with Tyrion Lannister is because of outstanding performances from both actors. Varys should have opened at least 75-1 or higher. No chance he gets the axe anytime soon.
Ellaria Sand 66-1
Ellaria Sand hasn't been around in the show since she stabbed Doran to death, so killing her won't make social media news after this season. She will meet her fate but not in the next two weeks.
Sansa Stark 66-1
Lady Sansa Stark has come a long way since the first season of Game of Thrones, and if you want social media to explode you kill her off this Sunday or next. Too bad that won't happen as Sansa is going to be around for awhile, and her storyline is only going to get more intense in the next couple of seasons. If Sansa can survive the honeymoon of Ramsay Bolton she can survive anything coming her way in the next couple of weeks.
Samwell Tarly 66-1
If they kill my favorite Game of Thrones character this week or next I swear I will give up on this show. The last time we saw Samwell he was with Gilly leaving Horn Hill for good, and Samwell was stealing his family heirloom, Heartsbane. So with all that excitement for good ole Samwell, why kill him off this week? Who is going to kill him, his father or brother!? Samwell should be around 75-1 or higher as no value on my favorite character.
Petyr Baelish 66-1
This sneaky, no good Littlefinger should be gone, but this character still has some behind-closed-doors exploiting to do. He is safe for now, but if I was him I would stay away from Sansa Stark because she will be the one to kill him. I hope!
Bronn 66-1
Bronn at 66-1 could be a nice long shot, but his character still has some swag in the upcoming Season 7, so he is safe and would shock me if he goes. If he does die, I will be kicking myself because I won't have a ticket on him at 66-1.
Jon Snow 75-1
Plain and simple with Jon Snow! If he didn't stay dead last year why try and kill him off this year? Jon Snow should be around 1000-1, and he is for sure safe for the next two weeks.
Tyrion Lannister 75-1
Big things come in small packages, and my favorite drinking buddy survives the next two weeks. Going to be interesting to see how him and Daenerys Targaryen work together now they she is back and ready to kick some butt.
Cersei Lannister 75-1
She survived a horrible haircut, the walk of shame, and her most of her kids' deaths. So why kill her off now? She has the muscle next to her, and she has something brewing in the next couple of episodes. Should be fun to watch.
Daenerys Targaryen 100-1
So Queen Daenerys Targaryen aka Dany, aka Queen of HBO nudes, and aka Mother of Dragons is 100-1. Why not make her a 1,000,000-1? If she dies the Internet will break and we could see tons of cancelations of the HBO channel. No chance she dies this week, but, and a big but, it would shock all and ratings would go through the roof. Her death would be bigger than Jon Snow.
