WWE SummerSlam Odds and Betting Predictions for Sunday PPV
by Raphael Esparza - 8/20/2015
As the Beastie Boys said it perfectly, "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"! Sunday night the biggest WWE PPV of the summer takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and I can guarantee the crowd will be rowdy. After a boring and not-too-surprising Battleground PPV in July, the WWE universe is waiting on pins and needles for a mind-blowing SummerSlam.
This Sunday's SummerSlam is four hours long, and this WWE PPV card is not only stacked but has some unbelievable betting value. Ten matches are on the PPV card, and we will see title switches, back stabbing, and of course SummerSlam will produce surprising in-ring appearances. Most offshore books will take a bit more money on this PPV event because it's the biggest PPV of the summer, and the WWE suits in the back are usually tight lipped when it comes to this SummerSlam card. Our friends over at Paddypower were the first to post odds on all 10 matches, including some very interesting prop bets for this huge WWE PPV event, and again this card has some interesting betting value.
My WWE betting predictions have been profitable, and at Battleground we went 3-1, with one match canceled. In my last eight WWE PPV I am 34-13, and if you are going to place some cash on these WWE matches I highly recommend betting them early because these numbers move quickly because of low limits. Again, SummerSlam is a bigger event, so numbers might not move quickly like other smaller PPV. SummerSlam should also set up some outstanding matches for the next couple of PPVs, and we could see some long storylines for the PPV Survivor Series in late November.
Here are the odds and my betting predictions - Odds Provided by PaddyPower
Tag Team
Stephen "The Green Arrow" Amell & Neville -700
King Barrett & Stardust +400
Prediction: I'm a big fan of the TV show "Green Arrow" (I'm a super hero nerd), but why is this a match for SummerSlam? I believe Neville is a raising star in the WWE, and if he can stay healthy the sky's the limit for him. I don't see Neville losing in this match. There is a reason why this match is -700 (no betting value whatsoever), and how sad wrestler King Barrett must be to be involved in this match because it just seems like yesterday his stock was on the rise. Winner Stephen Amell and Neville!
Dolph Ziggler (with Lana) +110
Rusev (with Summer Rae) -150
Prediction: This match is very intriguing to me! I'm hearing that Dolph Ziggler'scontract could be up, and I was surprised to see him on Monday Night RAW. Ziggler is one of those wrestlers that is known for making others look good in the ring, and I see that happening Sunday night as Rusev -150 has to be one of the matches that has outstanding value. If Rusev wins they can carry this feud to another PPV with a possible Lana versus Summer Rae match as well. Winner Rusev, and I see this feud carrying on another month even though Ziggler and Lana have no chemistry in the ring or during mic work.
WWE Tag Team Championship
Prime Time Players +140
The New Day +125
Lucha Dragons +400
Los Matadores 10-1
Prediction: Why is this match a fatal four-way when only two teams actually have a shot of winning? No disrespect to the Lucha Dragons or Los Matadores, but me and my twin brother have a better shot at winning this tag team match. No really head-on favorite in this match, but since the New Day still play outstanding heals I don't see them needing the belts to still be relevant. Prime Time Players at +140 is a steal in my eyes, and I see them carrying the belts a bit longer. Prediction: Prime Time Players win, but the New Day will carry the match.
Triple Threat Team Elimination Match
PCB -150
Team Bella +185
Team B.A.D +500
Prediction: PCB has Charlotte on their side, and I do believe she will be the next opponent to face Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship, so with that I say PCB wins this Triple Threat tag team match. Team Bella at +185 is very tempting, and I could see the powers at be making Team Bella win but still selling PCB and Charlotte. I still believe that will be the correct call. Prediction: PCB pins someone in Team Bella and I believe it is Charlotte pinning Nikki.
Intercontinental Championship
Ryback -300
The Miz +300
Big Show 7-1
Prediction: It's no secret that I'm tired of the 'Feed me More" campaign. However, since Ryback is facing two opponents that might be fading away on the WWE roster, seeing an upset here is highly unlikely. Big Show has already said he is tired of the 365-day-a-year travel, and The Miz is trying to be a part-time actor. Easy prediction here as Ryback wins, but his title reign could be over soon.
Singles Match
Randy Orton +350
Sheamus -600
Prediction: Sheamus could cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase Sunday night, so that could also be a small play of mine, but in this match I see no reason why the suits in the back would have RKO win this match. With Sheamus being one of the top heels in the WWE -- and the WWE can point him in any direction -- I see him easily winning this match. Prediction: Yes I know -600 is very high, but this could be one of the easiest predictions on the SummerSlam card, and Sheamus wins this match.
Tag Team
Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose -200
The Wyatt Family +150
Prediction: SummerSlam usually has big in-ring surprises, and in this match I see another Wyatt family member being involved. For some odd reason I see Erick Rowan getting involved in this match and causing Reigns & Ambrose to lose the match. Another reason why I like the Wyatt Family in this tag team match is I see no reasoning or benefit of letting Regins & Ambrose win this match. Heard some rumors that Roman Reigns turns on Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam and could see a feud between them two as well. Prediction: No matter what happens in this match, I'm taking the plus money on the Wyatt Family.
Singles Match
Kevin Owens -200
Cesaro +150
Prediction: This number seems a bit off as I think this match is pretty even and the push that Cesaro has received in the past month again shocks me with this betting number. I understand the push that Kevin Owens received when he was facing John Cena, and it's no secret that Owens is a Triple H guy, so all in all it's hard for me not to believe that Kevin Owens wins this match. This match will be one of the best matches of the night, and too bad there is no value left in this match. Prediction: Kevin Owens wins in a very entertaining match. "Fight Owens Fight!" or "Fat Owens Fat!". Either way, the crowd chants have it correct.
Singles Match
The Undertaker -185
Brock Lesnar +135
Prediction: You can call revenge or you can call it the mega rematch, but I guarantee this will be more of a fight than a wrestling match. When I heard the rumors that the Undertaker was going to be somewhere at WWE Battleground PPV I knew he would be involved with the Lesnar match. I wish I can say that the Undertaker gets his revenge from Lesnar for breaking his WrestleMania winning streak, but in recent house shows the Undertaker has pretty much only taken down Lesnar by low blows. My prediction and thoughts is that Kane or some other wrestler comes down to help the Undertaker and Lesnar wins by DQ but that Lesnar gets his butt kicked.
Winner Takes All Match
Seth Rollins (WWE Champion) -225
John Cena (U.S. Champion) +165
Prediction: Not excited for this match because this match has double count-out or disqualification written all over it. I see this feud continuing for a couple more PPV's, and with the success John Cena has had with the United States Championship I just don't see him becoming the 16-time World Champion Sunday night. Prediction in this two-title match is that both wrestlers walk away with their belts and John Cena wins by DQ or something out of the ordinary.
