2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'

The Hokies have fallen off the national radar after producing just a 15-11 record over the past two seasons. There are even grumblings in Blacksburg that Frank Beamer's 28-year tenure as Hokies coach could be coming to an end. All of that makes 2015 a huge season for Tech, and we will see if they can vault back to national prominence.

Virginia Tech has 16 starters back from the only team to beat national champion Ohio State last year. The Hokies were in the Top 25 in scoring, passing and total defense last year. They have all of the key pieces back. The offensive attack needs to improve after struggling through four freshmen starters last year. Quarterback Michael Brewer should be more comfortable in Year 2 and has all of his primary skill people back.

Virginia Tech opens the season with the defending champs, who will be hell-bent on revenge. But that one is a night game in Blacksburg. Even if the Hokies lose that one, they have an excellent opportunity to win at least six of their next seven outings. That leads into a tricky final month that features three of their last four on the road. That said, I see Tech winning at least two of those contests.

I think that Tech is going to be a Top 20 team this year. And I have them going 10-2, losing to Ohio State and then either at Miami or at Georgia Tech. I think the worst-case scenario for this wager would be a 'push'. But I think things would have to go sideways for them to lose four games. This one is a very easy call - take the 'over'.
