2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'
USC is not back to being a juggernaut. Yet. But they are certainly getting close, and Steve Sarkisian's squad is as loaded as it has been since they were slapped with sanctions. Last year's nine wins was actually a step back from their 10-win campaign in 2013. But this season things could be set up for the Trojans to get back into double-digits and back in national title contention.
Quarterback Cody Kessler is a potential All-American, and the senior has mastered Sarkisian's system. The Trojans are without three of their top four receivers, and they have to replace 1,500-yard rusher Javorius Allen. But the entire offensive line is back, and there is a lot of talent here.
The defense overachieved last year, allowing just 25.2 points per game despite ranking just No. 76 in total defense. USC's defense excelled at forcing turnovers. But they were a bit over reliant on that to get stops.
The Trojans have four of their first five games at home, including a key game against Stanford (a team they were lucky to beat last year). The lone road game is a revenge spot at Arizona State. So they could be 5-0 heading into a huge game against Notre Dame.
The Trojans should be favored in five of their remaining six games. Even if they lose to the Irish and lose at Oregon then USC would still easily clear this bar. In fact, there is even a work-in for an upset along the way, and they would still get 'over'. I like the Trojans to get back to dominating some people, and I definitely see them getting to nine wins - or more - and getting 'over'.
