2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Under'
The motto for this year's Texas State team is "Leave No Doubt" after receiving what they felt was a bowl snub last season. They quietly were one of the most profitable teams in the country, going 9-3 against the spread, and were an under-the-radar gem in 2014. But a brutal schedule and a rebuilding defense look like they will keep Dennis Franchione's team from improving its record for a third straight season.
Texas State has a three-year starter at quarterback in Tyler Jones, and most of the key pieces - leading rusher, leading receiver, three linemen - are back from the nation's No. 31 scoring offense and No. 24 total offense. These guys can move the ball, and they scored 45 or more points three times.
The defense will be a train wreck. They have only five starters back, and these guys got rolled over last year on the ground (No. 100 rushing defense).
This is an extremely optimistic season win total, and this one is an easy 'under' call. Texas State should be able to pick up as many as five home wins, as I think they'll lose at home to either South Alabama or UL-M. But how many road games will they win? They face most of the top teams in the league on the road, and their trip to Idaho comes at a really tricky time in the schedule.
If this season win total is any indication, this team is going to be one to bet against at the window. And I'll start here by taking them to go 'under'.
