2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Under'
Texas A&M made a solid run at beating their season win total in 2014. But, as I predicted, they came up short, winning just seven regular-season games. That was due largely to their 2-5 slide in the last half of the regular season, and the Aggies are looking for a better close this time around.
The Aggies are a system team under Kevin Sumlin. They've lost a ton of talent to the NFL the past two years but have been able to plug-and-play and still make noise in the SEC West. I expect more of the same this year despite just 13 returning starters. If A&M can find answers along the offensive line and at linebacker then they should be a key player this year too.
A&M has a very interesting schedule in that only one of their first 10 games is a true road game (at Ole Miss on Oct. 24). They have tough games against Arizona State and Arkansas on semi-neutral ground in Texas (Houston and Arlington, respectively). And their last two games of the year are at Vanderbilt and at LSU (with new A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis returning to Baton Rouge).
I am a big fan of Sumlin's work, and this is a team I rarely feel comfortable betting against. But they are really young and probably a year away from potentially winning the SEC. And in the West this year the slightest weakness - their inexperience - will be exploited to the max.
I'll call for A&M to stay 'under' this year, setting up a big 2016 for the Aggies.
