The 2015-16 NBA campaign got underway on Tuesday, which means it is not a moment too soon to start thinking about end-of-season awards. Armed with championship experience and loaded rosters, Gregg Popovich and Steve Kerr are co-favorites to win Coach of the Year honors. With the NBA's tipoff, all four major sports are in action right now-as are some others like horse racing and poker.

NBA Coach of the Year
Gregg Popovich, Spurs (+450)
- Expectations are huge for the Spurs, who have returned all of their stars in addition to adding LaMarcus Aldridge. With this roster, Popovich will
undoubtedly coach his team to another outstanding regular-season record. But with its talent, San Antonio may have to compile the best record by a mile in
order for Pop to win this.
Steve Kerr, Warriors (+450)
- It's hard to see +450 as good value on a coach who is starting the season with an indefinite leave of absence. Kerr is still recovering from back
surgery, and Like Walton is the interim in his place. As the defending champions, the Warriors will have to do something seriously special to give Kerr a
chance.
Billy Donovan, Thunder (+650)
- This may be setting up real nicely for Donovan. With both Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant injured at times, the Thunder won only 45 games in 2014-15
and missed the playoffs. They have a great chance of making a massive improvement in their win-loss record and got off to a stellar start on Wednesday by
beating the Spurs.
David Blatt, Cavaliers (+800)
- Blatt is one of those guys who is going to get all the blame (well, LeBron James will incur some) when the Cavs lose, and won't get any (that will be for
LeBron, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, among others) when they win. So it's unlikely Blatt will bag this award-unless Cleveland goes something like 72-10
like the 1995-96 Bulls.
AFC Championship
New England Patriots (Even)
- Indianapolis was a trendy pick prior to the season to contend with if not dethrone New England in the AFC. With the Colts struggling mightily so far, the
6-0 Patriots (35.5 points per game) are now even with the entire rest of the field to reach the Super Bowl.
Cincinnati Bengals (+500)
- The undefeated Bengals are third in the NFL at 30.3 points per contest, trailing only New England and Arizona. They already have a win over Seattle (in
overtime) but will be tested by remaining games at the Cardinals and Broncos.
Denver Broncos (+500)
- Unlike in the cases of New England and Cincinnati, it is hard to fathom how this team is 6-0 based on how it has played. Peyton Manning and company have
won just a single game by more than seven points, and that was against the lowly Lions.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+1200)
- In both the standings and the odds, there are the Pats, the Bengals, and the Broncos, and then there is everyone else (the Jets own the conference's
fourth best mark at 4-2). The 4-3 Steelers should at least benefit from Ben Roethlisberger's impending return.
World Series of Poker
Joseph McKeehen (+120) - And then there were nine. The "November Nine" will be back in action on the final table on Nov. 8. McKeehen is the massive chips leaders with 63,100,000 in his stack. The 23-year-old North Wales native (that's North Wales, Pennsylvania, not the country of Wales) has more than double the chips of any other contender.
Max Steinberg (+350) - Steinberg may be fifth out of nine at the moment with 20,200,000 chips, but he is the second choice to bring home the bacon. The 27-year-old won a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2012 and one year later he knocked out Phil Ivey from the main event en route to a 131st-place finish ($50,752).
Zvi Stern (+350)
- The 36-year-old Israeli is second in the current standings with 29,800,000 chips. With only two live tournament cashes totaling $49,595, Stern may be one
of the least experienced players in WSOP final table history. He is certainly the least known of this nine-man field, enigmatic to the point that he does
not even have a Twitter handle.
Neil Blumenfield (+500)
- Blumenfield currently finds himself in third (22M chips on the dot), one of only five competitors with more than 12,250,000. The 61-year-old from San
Francisco has been around but has never made major noise in the poker world until now. In fact, he actually has a real, non-poker job unlike the
aforementioned young bucks.
