Outside of San Francisco, the Philadelphia Eagles had the wildest, most bizarre, most active offseason in the NFL. Chip Kelly has been criticized for everything from being a racist to being a madman, while also being hailed as some kind of mad scientist genius. Like it or not, he is the one responsible for this team, and he'll be the one to answer for their success or failure.

But for my money, there's going to be a whole lot more of the former than the latter. I think that the Eagles enter the season as the best team in the NFC East - not the Cowboys - and I think they are a sleeper team to win the NFC this year.

Philadelphia's most scrutinized move this offseason was trading LaSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso. And their addition of DeMarco Murray certainly didn't go unnoticed. But the most important maneuver off the spring was the addition of quarterback Sam Bradford. I think that if Bradford stays healthy then he is g oing to have an absolutely monster season in Kelly's fun-and-gun offense. Of course, the key word in that sentence is always "if".

The Eagles also bolstered their leaky defense. And as much as Bradford, the stop unit's progress is the key to the season. Of course, Kelly can help out his defense by playing a bit more ball control with what could be the best crop of running backs in the game. But Kelly's mantra of a lightning-strike attack seems to be diametrically opposed to that practical philosophy.

Philadelphia is a bit of a love-them-or-hate-them team going into the year. A lot of analysts look at the talent they lost and can't see the Eagles being an improved group. But I look at Philly and see a team that won 10 games in back-to-back seasons despite having a new coach trying to reshape and build a roster that fits his system.

I think if Bradford plays 16 games then the Eagles are going to win 11 or 12 of them. But there's that word again.
