2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Under'
I have no idea about the behind-the-scenes machinations that led Gary Andersen away from Wisconsin and to Oregon State. But all I know is that Andersen is faced with a massive rebuilding task in Corvallis. Oregon State has spent a decade as a much-better-than-you-think-they-are program. But the cupboard is bare for a team that is just 24-26 the last four years.
Fittingly, Andersen may begin his reign with a freshmen quarterback. But other than that there are eight starters back on offense. Running back Storm Woods and receiver Victor Bolden both have the ability to be very, very good. And the line is solid.
The defense is a major question mark, though. They have just two starters back from a group that allowed 36.7 points per game in their last nine games.
Andersen's squads have gone 35-9 over his last 44 games. And he should win his first game against Weber State. But I don't see a lot of other wins coming this season. I think the only other real winnable games are SJSU, at Wazzou, Colorado and Washington. And to get 'over' they would need to sweep them. They sure as hell aren't going to do that. So I'm playing this one 'under'.
