2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Under'

Last year I successfully predicted an easy 'Under' wager on Oklahoma State's season win total. They were in an obvious rebuilding year after a 10-win campaign, and their 8.0 total was overly ambitious. The Cowboys took advantage of an easy early schedule to fly out to a 5-1 start. But reality quickly snapped them back with a five-game losing streak. A huge upset over rival Oklahoma and subsequent bowl success, however, has given Oklahoma State's program momentum heading into this fall's campaign.

The Cowboys have 12 offensive players with starting experience and will hope that quarterback Mason Rudolph can avoid a sophomore slump. Rudolph burned his redshirt late last season and was the catalyst to OSU's midnight revival. Mike Gundy's teams can always score. And I expect a huge bounce back after last year's team finished No. 73 in scoring and No. 82 in total offense.

The X-factor for this year's group is the defense. They have eight returning starters from last year's abysmal unit and have to hope that last year's experience has toughened this group up. Defense is generally optional in the Big 12 anyway. So this year's unit will likely keep the focus on creating turnovers.

I'm bullish on Oklahoma State, and this is an easy call on the 'over'. They have several statistical indicators - including their turnover margin and program's last 10 years performance - that signal a bounce back season. They took their lumps in their rebuilding season. But now they are a potential sleeper to win the Big 12 and make it into the college football playoffs.

OSU should roll through its first three games and then has a key trip to remodeling Texas on Sept. 26 in the league opener. But from there the Cowboys get all of their toughest games at home: TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma all come to Stillwater in November. I think this team could win 10 games this season, and I love the 'over' here.
