2015 Las Vegas Season Win Total: 8.5

Were it not for a couple of relatively fluky Super Bowl titles in the past 10 years I think that people would mostly overlook this Giants franchise. After all, they've made just one postseason appearance in the last six seasons and have largely been a non-factor while going 22-26 the past three campaigns. This has the look of a last hurrah for long-time coach Tom Coughlin, and I think that things could get ugly as his time finally winds down with the Giants.

New York's offense certainly has potential. I think that Odell Beckham Jr. is becoming one of the more overhyped players in the league, despite his breathtaking rookie season. And a big key for this team is the return to form of former Pro Bowler Victor Cruz, who is coming off knee surgery. This is also New York's second season in their upgraded offensive scheme, and that familiarity should pay dividends.

However, New York's offensive line is still wobbly, their running game is still below average, and they don't have a Plan B if either Beckham or Cruz don't live up to the hype. Eli Manning has been turnover-plagued in his career, and I think that the Giants offense will be good enough to keep them in a lot of games but not good enough to win them all

The main reason I am selling the Giants this season is the defense. Their stop unit is pathetic and has finished No. 27 or worse in yards allowed three of the past four seasons. The return of Steve Spagnuolo won't be nearly the tonic that people are predicting , and the fact is that the Giants simply don't have enough NFL-caliber players to fill up their defense. Look for a lot of shootouts in New York this year.

New York has been submarined by the worst injury luck in football the past three years. You would expect that to correct itself, but they are already dealing with attrition this preseason. That's not a good sign. I felt they should've cut bait with Coughlin after last season and let him leave with dignity. Instead I expect him to get booed out of New York as the Giants endure a fourth straight playoff-less season. Play 'under'.
