2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'

Dave Doeren's second season was night-and-day different from his first as transfer quarterback Jacoby Brissett was a revelation while helping the Wolfpack win eight games for just the third time in 11 seasons. This year's Pack faces a tricky schedule. But there is enough talent on this team for N.C. State to be a sleeper team in the Atlantic Division.

Brissett is back. But he'll be working with a whole new cast of wideouts as State lost three of its top four receivers. The offensively line has four starters back and should be a strength. Defensively, the Wolfpack are vulnerable on the line, where three sophomores are projected to start. But their secondary is loaded with experience and they have some up-and-coming talent at linebacker in their quirky 4-2-5 alignment.

N.C. State's schedule is strange, to say the least. From Sept. 19 to Nov. 19 they play six of eight games on the road, with three back-to-back road trips. However, they start the year with four games in which they should be double-digit favorites. And the home games are key tilts against Louisville and Clemson.

Further, N.C. State may have an odd schedule. But one key to their slate is the fact that they catch a lot of opponents at just the right time, either coming off bigger games or looking ahead to more marquee opponents. The name "N.C. State" pops up at some really random times for the Wolfpack's ACC foes.

I'm bullish on the Wolfpack this year. They aren't a great team. But they have some solid factors working in their favor. I absolutely see eight wins on their schedule, and I'll be really surprised if they don't get to eight wins. Play the Wolfpack 'over'.
