2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'
The Tigers have been one of the best bets in the country over the past two seasons, going 20-8 against the spread while winning back-to-back SEC East titles. I have said for years that Missouri's success in the SEC - they were nothing but a middle-tier wannabe in the Big 12 - is one of the greatest indictments of how overrated the SEC actually is. We'll see if they can keep proving me right.
Missouri has lost a lot of talent over the past two graduations. But they still have seasoned junior quarterback Maty Mauk at the helm. Missouri also has four returning offensive line starters (all seniors) and a skilled tight end.
The Tigers have gotten the job done on defense the past two years and spent 2014 in the Top 25 in scoring and total defense. They have six starters back on that side of the ball. But with just three senior starters this crew lacks the experience of the past two defenses.
Missouri's season win total actually dropped a full win compared to last season. I don't really understand why. The Tigers aren't as good as they were last year. But their schedule really works in their favor. Missouri should be 4-0 heading into a key three-game stretch against South Carolina, Florida and Georgia. The first of those two games is at home.
All of Missouri's trouble will come at the end of the year. They face BYU in Kansas City on Nov. 14 in a very random, distracting nonconference game late in the year. They follow that up with tough games against Tennessee and Arkansas.
But Missouri could lose all three of those games (I don't think they will) and still beat this win total. They just need to win two of three from that USC-UF-UGA stretch. I think that's manageable. I see Missouri winning eight regular-season games and collecting against this total easily.
