2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Under'
At this point I think it is time to let go of the idea of Miami coming "back" and becoming a major player on the national level like they were in the 1980s and early 2000s. Miami hasn't won 10 or more games in 11 years and haven't won a bowl game since 2006. This absolutely won't be the year in which they snap either streak.
The Hurricanes have just eight returning starters back from last year's 6-7 group. They do believe they have a potential star at quarterback with sophomore Brad Kaaya, last year's ACC Rookie of the Year. But the 'Canes lost do-it-all running back Duke Johnson and his 2,000 all-purpose yards, and the y need to replace their top rusher and three top receivers.
Miami also has to replace more than half of their starters on last year's outstanding defense. They were in the Top 20 nationally in scoring defense and passing defense.
This is an extremely young Miami team. But their biggest obstacle this season is the schedule. They have two difficult nonconference games against Nebraska and Cincinnati. And then the open to the ACC schedule is ridiculous: at Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson and at Duke. Miami will also likely be an underdog at North Carolina and at Pittsburgh.
I think this year is going to be a major step back before a possible big bounce-back season in 2016. Even though their win total number is low, I don't see Miami getting to .500. Play 'under'.
