2015 Season Win Total Prediction: 'Over'
Kent State has had its win total drop the last two years after winning 11 games in 2012. Paul Haynes hasn't been able to keep up the momentum from that big season. But now he is playing with mostly a whole team full of his recruits. The results should be clear this year.
Kent State has 17 returning starters. They have eight on offense and nine on defense, and their top 11 tacklers are back on defense. Kent State had to rely on its defense last year because the offense averaged just 16.4 points per game. Things should improve for the offense this year. But they need the defense to be better, too, after allowing 29.4 points per game.
Kent State has to play tough Big Ten teams on the road in September when they go to Illinois and Minnesota. The Flashes also have to play each of their last four games of the season on weeknights. That is a schedule oddity even for a league like the MAC.
I would play Kent State 'under' this year. The offense isn't very good. The defense isn't much better. There are a lot of really good teams in the MAC this year. Kent State has to play most of them on the road. I think that this team could be really good next year. But for right now they have to go 'under'.
