I had the Jayhawks pegged last year, predicting that they would be more competitive (they almost knocked off TCU and Oklahoma State) but that they wouldn't make it to four wins. I feel even more confident this season predicting the Jayhawks to be one of the worst teams in any major conference in the country.

Kansas is starting over from scratch with new coach David Beaty. He has all new systems and will have one of the youngest teams in the Big 12. The Jayhawks return just five starters - total; that is the fewest returnees in college football.

Kansas could get a win over FCS's South Dakota State in the opener. And they could be just a small underdog in Week 2 when they host Memphis. But that's it. The rest of their winnable games are on the road against Rutgers, Iowa State and Texas.

The 2014 Jayhawks didn't rank in the Top 100 in offense or defense. And they are worse this year. I know this number seems really low for this squad. And a savvy bettor knows that the value on this one is on the 'over'. I don't know that they will beat Memphis, and I don't see them pulling a Big 12 upset (although the season finale against Kansas State could be interesting). And I would never wager a dollar on this team. But if I had to make a call I would say Kansas goes 'over' this line, which should've been set at 2.0.
