2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'

The hangover from the David Carr Era was evident last season as the Bulldogs plunged from 11 wins in 2013 to just six last year.

The Bulldogs will have a full-blown quarterback battle this fall as they attempt to find their next leader. Right now there are four players, including two transfers from major college programs, who are jockeying for position. And whom coach Tim DeRuyter goes with will be a major factor in how this season plays out for the Dogs.

Fresno State has only 11 total starters back. And for as many questions as they have on offense, things are even bleaker on defense. Fresno State was barely inside the Top 100 in scoring, rushing and passing defense last year, and they were No. 108 in total defense.

The schedule is not kind for the Bulldogs. They should open with a win. But then Ole Miss and Utah will slam Fresno before the Bulldogs open league play with back-to-back road games. Their first MW home game comes against a very good Utah State team, and Fresno will probably be 2-4 (at best) after that stretch.

But they do have UNLV on the schedule, and that's an easy win. And I think that Air Force, Nevada and Hawaii are winnable games, even if two of the three are on the road. Fresno State also closes with a home game against rebuilding Colorado State.

I think there is enough on the card for Fresno State to get to five wins. And they haven't had fewer than four wins in over 10 years, so I feel really good about their chances of getting 'over' in this one.
