2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'

The Gators finally bottomed out last year under clueless dolt Will Muschamp. But, mercifully, he has moved on and been replaced by former Alabama coordinator Jim McElwain. McElwain had a successful audition at Colorado State the past several seasons. However, it is a massive step up to the SEC, even for someone who knows the lay of the land the way McElwain does.

Florida has been devoid of talent on the offensive side the ball the past several years. They still don't really have a quarterback and could be relying on a redshirt freshman to lead a group that finished No. 104 in passing last year. Defensively the Gators have been great. And their achievements have been that much more impressive considering how little help they've gotten from their attack.

The Gators clearly weren't as bad as their record last season. They were more competitive with Alabama than the score suggests. And they lost to LSU, South Carolina and Florida State by five points or less apiece.

McEwlain will have a chance at a fast start with four of five games in The Swamp and the one road game very winnable at Kentucky. However, then they have to play three straight and four of five games at road or neutral sites. And none of those roadies is an easy win.

I think UF has a great chance at a 5-0 start. After that they also should have wins in hand over Vanderbilt and Florida Atlantic. If they can steal just one road game (and they get FSU at home to close the season) then they will beat this total. I'll call for the Gators to get at least eight wins this year.
