Colorado State enjoyed a breakout season in 2014, going 10-3 and serving as a major factor in the Mountain West for the first time since the 1990s. The Rams had a cup of coffee in the Top 25, and last season marked the third straight season in which they improved their win total.

Coach Jim McElwain parlayed that success into the head coaching job at Florida and bailed on Fort Collins. But the Rams were able to lure successful Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo into taking his first head-coaching position.

Bobo inherits one of the best players in the country in sophomore wideout Rashard Higgins. He led the country in receiving yards and touchdowns and will be the featured piece in Bobo's attack. Bobo does need to replace an NFL draft pick at quarterback and a 1,300-yard rusher. But offense is Bobo's specialty.

The defense absolutely has to step up this year for the Rams. They have eight starters back and eight senior starters. This is a veteran unit that needs to be better than last year's No. 85 total defense.

The Rams play their first three games at home or on neutral fields. Only two of their first eight games are in opposing stadiums. But they pay for it with three of their last four games on the road.

This is a really good number for the Rams. I wouldn't touch this one. And the swing game is going to be that rivalry game against Colorado. CSU won last year, but they are just 7-17 in the last 24 meetings and haven't won two straight since 1999-2000. I'll let history be the guide and I'll call for a 7-5 regular season for the Rams, leaving them 'under'.
