2015 Season Win Total Prediction: 'Under'
The Dan Enos Era is finally over in Central Michigan. He announced in January that he would be stepping down as head coach and kind of screwed over the Chips in the process. He was a terrible coach anyway, though, and CMU will be better off in the long term without him.
Unfortunately, new head coach John Bonamego only has 10 returning starters, and this is his first head coaching job in almost 20 years. It is going to be a struggle for Central Michigan this season.
Quarterback Cooper Rush does give this team some hope. He toped 3,100 yards last year while throwing 27 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. He completed 63.4 percent of his passes and gives Bonamego someone to lean the offense on.
Last year's defense was the toughest in the MAC and No. 30 nationally in total defense. Almost the whole line is back. But CMU has to replace all three linebackers and lost defensive leader Justin Cherocci.
Central Michigan has a really rough nonconference schedule. They will get crushed by Oklahoma State and Michigan State. They should also lose to Syracuse on the road. That will give them just one nonconference win.
That means CMU would have to go at least 4-4 in MAC play this year in order to go 'over' their season win total. I do not think that they can do that, and I would play this team 'under'.
