2015 Season Win Total Prediction: 'Under'

Steve Addazio produced one of the best coaching efforts in the country last year, guiding a rebuilding B.C. team to a 7-6 record with a huge upset win over USC and two near-miss upsets against Florida State (20-17) and Penn State (31-30). Somehow the Eagles have even fewer returning starters (seven) this season than last. But after watching Addazio work last year, I'm not in a hurry to doubt him.

The Eagles don't have a quarterback and have just two returning starters. One of them, running back Jon Hillman, showed a ton of potential last year. But on the whole this group is starting from scratch. The front seven on the defense could be one of the best in the country. They have four guys back, including three on the line, from the No. 2 rush defense in the nation.

Boston College opens the season with four straight home games, and five of their first six are in Chestnut Hill. The Eagles should have no problem starting 2-0 before welcoming Florida State. At worst they should be 3-3 (though 4-2 is more likely) heading into the heart of the ACC season.

However, I don't see a lot of wins for B.C. on the back end of their schedule. They end at Syracuse, who is a patsy. But other than that they play at Clemson, at Louisville, and have to face Notre Dame. Their home games are against Virginia Tech and N.C. State and, honestly, I don't see B.C. winning either.

I think this is a good number for the Eagles. And one upset will get them 'over'. But I don't think they'll get that one upset, and the odds are stronger that they will give away a game that they should win. Play the 'under'.
