It is a brand new week in baseball, and MyBookie.ag has ramped up the action for Monday's MLB schedule with a number of team prop odds in conjunction with the games. I have poured over the stats, facts and betting trends for all of these team props to uncover a few picks that take advantage of a team's current form and overall performanceas compared to the betting odds for tonight's games.
Total Miami Marlins Runs: 3.5 (-135 Over & +105 Under)
The Marlins come into Monday's series opener against Arizona fresh off a three-game sweep at the hands of Philadelphia on the road by a combined score of 17-11. Going back a bit further in their schedule before the all-star break, Miami failed to score more than three runs in six previous road games, which resulted in a record of 1-5.
Miami started the season like a house on fire when it came to scoring runs, but the loss of Giancarlo Stanton with a broken wrist has taken most of the punch out of this lineup. The Marlins are currently ranked 13th in National League in total runs scored. The Diamondbacks' team ERA of 4.23 is hardly going to strike much fear in any team's lineup, and Monday's starter Rubby De La Rosa has been really struggling lately. However, I still think there is enough value in Miami's +105 odds on the "under" to bet that way in this team prop.
Total San Francisco Giants Runs: 3.5 (-125 Over & -105 Under)
The Giants will also be on the road this Monday night in a NL West matchup against San Diego. San Francisco suffered through a 1-8 slide earlier this month in which it scored a grand total of just 21 runs, but it has suddenly got some solid production in its current six-game winning streak against Philadelphia at home and Arizona on the road this past weekend with a combined 43 runs.
Granted, San Diego's overall pitching is better than both the Phillies and the Diamondbacks, but this staff is still ranked ninth in the NL with a team ERA of 3.91. Ian Kennedy will get the start for the Padres in Monday's series opener. The right-hander is now just 4-9 in 16 previous starts after losing his last four outings. He has allowed three earned runs in each of his last two starts while lasting a total of 10 1/3 innings.
Team to Score First: San Francisco (-150) vs. San Diego (+120)
In what could be considered a team prop parlay pick, I am also going with the Giants to draw first blood in tonight's division clash by scoring first. Along with San Diego's choice of starter for Monday night, I also like San Francisco's chances to score first in this game behind its starter, Tim Hudson.
He is expected to come off the DL to make his 16th start of the season. While the right-hander has gotten bounced around in his last few starts as well, he did hold San Diego scoreless through 6 1/3 innings the last time he faced this lineup in early April. The main reason he went on the DL, besides some soreness in his shoulder, was to give the 40-year old veteran's arm some much-needed rest. I am expecting a much better outing from Hudson tonight with the added rest.
