One of the best ways to add even more action to betting on the NBA is to bet on some of the player props that are released daily in conjunction with the games themselves. Many times you already have a pretty good feel for how a particular player might perform as part of your regular handicapping efforts breaking down that night’s game.

The following is a brief look at my top two picks for this Monday night in the NBA on Sportsbook.ag’s player prop odds as well as my top prop bet pick of the week.

Houston Rockets James Harden: 3-point field goals

The Houston Rockets will head north of the border this Monday night to square off against the Toronto Raptors is an inter-conference clash. The “over/under” on how many 3-point shots that the Rockets’ James Harden will make in that game has been set at 2.5, with a betting moneyline of -135 on the over.

Harden is currently second in the NBA in scoring with 27.2 points per game, and he is shooting 36.9 percent from 3-point range. What I like best about this play is his current form shooting 3s. While he went only 1-for-6 in Sunday’s loss to Washington, in his previous game he lit things up from beyond the arc against Minnesota by going 6-for-12, and last Monday in a victory against Indiana he went 3-for-8. He should bet quite a few good looks against a Toronto team that is ranked 22nd in the NBA in points allowed.

Charlotte Hornets Kemba Walker: Total Points

The player prop betting odds on Charlotte’s Kemba Walker’s total points in Monday’s home game against Boston have been set at 18.5 with a moneyline of -120 for the under. He is coming off one of his better games in recent memory after scoring 21 points in this past Saturday’s 115-100 victory against Atlanta. Last Monday, Walker lit up Chicago for 29 points, but he has struggled with consistency from one game to the next since returning to lineup on March 11 after missing an extended amount of time due to an injury.

All told, Walker has eclipsed the 18-point mark in only two of his last 10 games since returning to the court, so I am banking on a downturn from the 21 points he scored the other night with a play on the under in this prop.

Top Prop Bet pick of the Week- NBA Finals Possible Matchups

Sportsbook.ag has recently updated its betting odds for potential matchups in this year’s NBA Finals. The top matchup on the board has Cleveland playing Golden State at +175. The Cavaliers are actually a part of the betting odds for seven of the first 10 matchups on the list.

The third-favored matchup on the list is Atlanta verse Golden State at +500, but the Hawks’ current form has to raise some concern. They have just two wins in their last six games, and during this stretch they have blown out by Golden State, San Antonio and, even more disturbing, Charlotte in three of those losses.

I am pretty well set on using Cleveland from the East as one pick with the goal of stretching these odds a bit with my pick from the Western Conference. The only team that I see giving the Warriors a run for their money is Houston, even though the Rockets have lost their first four games this season against Golden State.

I am banking on current form and the return of Dwight Howard to make a difference with a play on the +1100 betting odds that Cleveland and Houston face off against one another in this season’s NBA Finals.
