2015 Las Vegas Season Win Total: 8.5

Bruce Arians proved once again in 2014 that he is on the short list of the best coaches in football, coaxing an 11-win season out of a team that played four different guys at quarterback after losing starter Carson Palmer just six games into the year. Arians has now won double-digit games in three straight years with two different franchises and is a force to be reckoned with.

Arizona's season will be even more dependent on the health of Palmer because there is simply no way the Cardinals will benefit from the same level of luck that they did last year. Arizona outscored its opponents by an average of less than one point per game last year and went 4-1 in games decided by six points or less.

According to Football Outsiders, teams in which Arians either coached or served as offensive coordinator for have gone 43-23 in one-score games over the past eight years. So maybe luck has less to do with it than I think. However, success in close games is definitely something that is susceptible to a severe regression at any time.

Arizona had some of its talent whittled away in the offseason. But for the most part this is still a very veteran group that is tough in the trenches and boasts supreme skill level talent in both passing offense and defense.

I think that this number is a little low for the Cardinals, and I thought it should've been released at 9.5. St. Louis is still below average and San Francisco is a train wreck, meaning it is essentially a two-horse race for the NFC West title. Arizona does have to make a lot of cross-country treks with a lot of early start times - the kiss of death for West teams. But until I see an Arians-led team underachieve I'd still bet on this team going 'over' their season win total.
