I was all over Air Force's resurgence last season, easily predicting in this very space that they would sail over their season win total of 4.0. They more than doubled it! The Falcons posted the first 10-win season in the eight-year Troy Calhoun regime and enjoyed one of the program's best seasons ever.

Air Force isn't going to enjoy that same level of success this season. They do still have some talent on the roster. But they have to replace seven starters on defense, their quarterback, and three key offensive linemen. The Falcons won't be as bad as their 2-10 disaster in 2013. But I expect them to be an afterthought in the Mountain West.

Air Force doesn't have a lot of easy wins on the schedule. They do get bottom-tier league teams San Jose State and Wyoming at home. But they miss UNLV and they have to play at New Mexico this year in the season finale (in a game following a big tilt at Boise State). The only gimme wins are against Morgan State and Army (although Service Academy games are never all that easy). Other than that, I don't see a lot of sunshine for this year's Falcons.

I think that Air Force will come back to the pack a bit this season. I do think they have a great chance to get to six wins and bowl eligibility. Calhoun has averaged over seven wins per season. But I don't think they reach that plateau this year. I'll call for exactly six wins and a 'push'. So if you shop around and find a 5.5 or 6.5 for their win total, you know how to play it.
