The Major League Baseball season is more than a third of the way into the schedule, and the possible playoff and World Series matchups are starting to become clear. San Francisco is making a statement in the National League, while Oakland, Detroit and Toronto have risen to the top of the American League. The Los Angeles Dodgers, who are sitting on baseball's biggest payroll, have already built a big division deficit in the NL West and may have to settle for a wild card spot come playoff time.

The postseason is still a few months away, yet it is never too early to take a look at the odds and lines for possible 2014 World Series matchups. All lines come from Sportsbook.ag.

The Favorite

Los Angeles Dodgers versus Detroit Tigers: +1400 -Los Angeles, who is 7.5 games behind San Francisco for the division lead, is still the favorite to make it out of the National League probably because of the team's high profile and its massive payroll. The Giants are nearly eight games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers and have played excellent baseball throughout the first third of the season. An Oakland versus San Francisco matchup also has value. Oakland currently has the best record in the American lead and holds he biggest run differential in all of baseball at +124.

The Long Shot with Value

Atlanta Braves versus Toronto Blue Jays: +5000

Both Atlanta and Toronto have been on a solid run to start the season. Toronto is currently leading the AL East, while Atlanta is tied for the NL East lead with Washington. The Braves, just like every year, rely on their excellent pitching and solid defensive skills. They currently have allowed the fewest runs in the NL. Toronto is on the opposite end of the spectrum and is a monster on the offensive end. The team has scored the second-most runs in the AL and is being led by a fantastic offensive year from Edwin Encarnacion.

The Most Entertaining

Los Angeles Dodgers versus New York Yankees: +4000

A Los Angeles versus New York matchup in anything is sure to be a ratings hit and provide lots of entertainment value for sports fans to watch. The Stanley Cup Finals matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers is currently drawing record ratings, and its Game 2 viewership was the largest in 20 years. Both teams are still in the playoff hunt, and New York still has a shot to win its division. A matchup between two of the biggest payrolls in the sport provides some value at +4000 simply because of all the talent on each squad.
