We are already in Week 3 of the college football season and it kicks off with two great games on Thursday night. We've got a Conference USA matchup between Louisiana Tech and North Texas up first, while the undefeated BYU Cougars host Houston a little later on. Bettors will be looking to get down on these two games as the excitement for another full weekend of football action approaches, but I believe only the first one provides the best betting option for padding your bankroll.

Game #1: Louisiana Tech (+6.5) vs. North Texas (-6.5)

Both of these teams are coming off their first wins of the year this past week and both programs did it in impressive fashion. North Texas beat up SMU 43-6 as small favorites, but Louisiana Tech went into Layfayette and beat the Ragin Cajuns 48-20 as 16-point underdogs. The Bulldogs were clicking on all cylinders in that game but are still being counted out as touchdown underdogs in this game.

To be fair, part of the reason LA Tech comes in as this big of an underdog for this game is the fact that this is their third straight road game. Opening up the season on the road is tough enough, but when you have to do it three times in a row, with the last one being on a short week, its a tough hill to climb. HC Skip Holtz is still trying to build this program back up to be a respectable contender in Conference USA and the players are starting to really take to his system with this being his second year in town. The Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS when coming off a SU win as underdogs and 5-0 ATS as underdogs after beating the spread by double digits, so history suggests that LA Tech might not be in that bad of a spot after all.

This is North Texas' second straight home game after they demolished SMU on Saturday and this team has to be feeling confident about their chances in this one. The Mean Green went into Louisiana Tech last year and won 28-13 as three-point favorites and are hoping for a similar result here. However, they are 0-5 ATS when coming off a double digit ATS win and playing a conference opponent and this young team might not be able to "get up" for a team they beat last year like they were for their game against in-state rival SMU.

It will be interesting to see how this line moves leading up to kickoff on Thursday, but if it jumps up to that key number of '7' I believe you have to take the points with the road dog. Louisiana Tech surprised a lot of people with that dominating win on Saturday as line makers clearly got that number wrong. The Bulldogs are the more experienced team and have the revenge angle in their favor, so don't be surprised if they win this game outright.
