Weekly Q&A with Doc's Sports Expert Handicapper Vegas Sports Informer
by Doc's Sports - 6/25/2013
For well over four decades, Doc’s Sports Service has remained the premier selection company in the sports gaming industry. One of the main reasons for our continued success is the use of a Unit Betting System that has proven to be a highly effective money management tool. The other reason for our unparalleled longevity in such a competitive environment is an ongoing relationship with some of the top sports handicappers in the business. For close to five years, one of our top performers has been the Vegas Sports Informer. His continued success at picking winners can be attributed to the ability to combine superior handicapping skills with the insider’s edge that comes from working behind the counter of one of the biggest sportsbooks in Las Vegas for the last 15 years. Covering a wide array of sports, The Informer uses this edge to produce a consistent track record of winners for all the matchups he handicaps.
As part of a weekly series, Doc’s Sports has been able to tap into this edge by getting The Informer's insight into some of the hottest trending topics in the sports gaming industry today. The result has been a first-hand, behind-the-scenes glimpse of what is really going in the Las Vegas books. The following is this week’s interview with The Vegas Sports Informer.
Doc’s Sports: Looking back at Miami's thrilling 95-88 victory over San Antonio in Game 7 of this year's NBA Finals last Thursday, how did the Las Vegas books end up for the night in light of the fact that the Heat also covered against the spread and the total stayed “under” in that game?
VSI: A good chunk of the money all over town was riding on the Spurs both on the spread and the money line, so the books cleaned up that night. As a bonus, with the total staying under it broke up quite a few parlays for anyone who was on Miami and the “over”.
Doc’s Sports: Despite all the speculation that Miami might break up the Big Three before the start of next season, the Heat have once again been opened as clear odds-on-favorites to win a third-straight NBA title. Do you see this trio of superstars staying together at least one more season when they actually begin their quest for a three-peat?
VSI: I do not see Miami doing anything to move Chris Bosh, and LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are not going anywhere. You may see someone like Mario Chalmers dangled as trade bait, but the Big Three are going to stay intact for at least one more season.
Doc’s Sports: Your Chicago Blackhawks stunned the hockey world by eliminating Boston in six games after falling behind two games to one in the NHL Finals to claim their second Stanley Cup title in four years. How was the overall action in town for this series, and how did the books fare with its eventual outcome?
VSI: The NHL continues to grow in popularity with the fans, but it is still not a huge draw at the betting windows. The books did really well with Monday’s night’s Game 6 as whatever money that was out there was on Boston and the under.
Doc’s Sports: We know that you are a big fan of the WNBA, but are there any other sports that you are currently handicapping now that we are down to just the MLB in action.
VSI:The other big sport I like to focus on this time of year is soccer. Right now you have the MLS and the semifinals of the Confederation Cup with teams like Brazil and Spain still in the mix. Starting in August, the English Premier League is back in action, which is an excellent filler before the start of college football and the NFL.
Doc’s Sports: Speaking of the NFL, opening day is still over two months away, so when do you start getting serious about handicapping individual teams for the new season?
VSI: Once the 4th of July Holiday has passed and we get closer to the MLB all-star break is when I normally start my preliminary work reading up on both college and NFL teams. This gives me plenty of time to get ready for a new season.
