Rejoice sports fans and bettors! with the NFL Hall of Fame Game coming up this Sunday, there will not be another Sunday in 2013 without football. As the football season moves into focus, the baseball pennant race is beginning to heat up as the non-waiver trade deadline is this afternoon. MLB division leaders are an odd mix of high-spending clubs like Detroit, Atlanta and the Los Angeles Dodgers and low-payroll squads like Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Oakland. Here is this week’s By the Numbers.
18,355: Emmitt Smith’s career rushing yards, the NFL all-time record.
8,849: Total career rushing yards for 28-year old Adrian Peterson, who recently said he plans on breaking Smith’s record in Week 16 of the 2017 season.
120.3: Average yards per game Peterson would have to rush for to reach Smith’s record by Week 16 of the 2017 season (a span of 79 games).
$500: Price Michigan State is charging fans to sit in its Victors section to see the Spartans play Notre Dame on Sept. 7 as part of the school’s new dynamic pricing .

+975,000: Odds of Crystal Palace winning the 2013-14 English Premier League, making them the longshot by far on 5Dimes.
+50,000: Odds of the Charlotte Bobcats or Orlando Magic winning the 2014 NBA Championship, making them the biggest longshot of any of the three North American professional sports currently in the offseason. The odds are greater than the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders (+20,000) winning the Super Bowl and the Florida Panthers (+15,000) winning the Stanley Cup.
