Freshly promoted Premier League Welsh darlings Cardiff City will play host to fifth-place Manchester United this Sunday. United will be rolling into a hostile Cardiff City Stadium; with the best bet of the weekend being a euphoric crowd. Having knocked off United’s Manchester brethren at the beginning of their Premier League campaign, Cardiff has calmed down and sits just two points above the relegation zone.
Cardiff vs. Manchester United Betting Story Lines
Is United finally becoming David Moyes’ team? They seem to be finding their form and have won four of the past five matches. Despite the international break, Manchester will still be riding high into this weekend’s match following their victory over Arsenal. The team currently has accumulated a rocky 20 points and sits just outside of the top four, tied in points with Everton and Tottenham. Moyes’ squad will surely be looking to push themselves into the coveted Champions League spots with a win.
Look for the earlier matches this week to only add fuel to United’s fire as there are a handful of showdowns with top of the table implications.
Cardiff has been hit or miss in the last six matches, going 2-3-1, but you can be sure that in pubs around the grounds, supporters will still be talking about one of those wins after knocking off Swansea in the South Wales derby at home. The team will be looking to steal at least a point from Manchester as the relegation zone will be ever closer if they fail to secure any points.
Cardiff vs. Manchester United Betting Odds and Trends
The road favorites are available at –1 (+111) and –142 on three-way wagering on 5Dimes. In the last six matches, United has not been held off the score sheet and have only managed a clean sheet once. In addition, three of those matches came against teams at the bottom half of the table where United tallied 8 goals, and all three matches went “over” the 2.5 total.
Take Cardiff City/Manchester United ‘Over’ 2.5 (-142) (11 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 24)
United are slowly regaining their title-winning form, and taking on Cardiff in Wales, I expect a strong contest from both sides with a lot to gain from this match. Man U continue to push as they seek to win lost points from previous fixtures, while Cardiff can re-establish themselves and some momentum with a home result here over the current holders. I think both do well to get up the pitch and score in this game. A score of 2-1 to United is my prediction, so play the over between these two.
Strike Point Sports has won five of the past six weekends on the European soccer front. Last week's free pick available on Doc's Sports of Norwich City +160 over West Ham United was a winner with Norwich rolling to a 3-1 victory.
